My friends Mom makes sloppy joes the same way, but her "trick" is to add a knob of butter to the meat at the end and to paprika the buns where you would normally butter them. These are really good.

Many years ago I dropped a beautiful blue #22 (exposed cast iron bottom) on the side walk from waist high. My first concern was my foot, then that sick feeling of, " . . . but I loved that pot!". No damage whatsoever. I'm using it tonight.

How to store wine glasses (long term)

I used to work in restaurants. They go through a lot of wine glasses. They recycle the boxes the wine glasses come in. I use them to store my back-up stash. You could probably snag some boxes from a friendly neighborhood eatery.

I"ve read that self-cleaning ovens are good for cast iron cookware deep cleaning. Has anyone tried this with carbon steel pans? Thanks.

My first guess is that it is a set disigned for cocktails. The long spoon is obvious . . . the knife is perhaps meant for stabbing garnishes from jars?

I bought a William Bounds maybe 20 yrs. ago. After 13 yrs. it started acting up and the company chose to send me a new model which is still going strong. It's a great grinder with multiple settings and the customer service did right by me.
Technivorm, Zojirushi, or Capresso coffee maker?
I have had the Technivorm for about 5 years. There have been no problems and the coffee tastes like . . . coffee. If I were to do it again I would seek out the less expensive item, give it a try and return it if unsatisfied.
