Good Comfy place for Bday Gift - Loved LeGourmand, Tilth

Altura is where we are going for MY birthday <g>. Cafe Juanita is a good idea although my preference is in the city. My partner does not drink so wine pairings do not matter to her.

Thanks for ideas

Good Comfy place for Bday Gift - Loved LeGourmand, Tilth

My partner is really put off by pretension. She has really enjoyed dinners at both listed above as well as Chez Shea and Eva. I'm looking for somewhere else to take her for her birthday. Ideas?

Thanks.

Queen Anne Take Out??

Consider Eat Local, around McGraw & QA. They make tasty dinners from healthy natural ingredients and freeze them in various portion sizes. Many are packaged in returnable glass containers. I haven't yet eaten from there (unfortately I don't live in that neighborhood and I happened by it on a day when the frozen food would have melted).

Butcher Shop Cafe; Kenmore, WA

I've been doing the books for Select Gourmet Foods, the butcher behind the Butcher Cafe. He has been supplying the area's finest restaurants with high quality fresh meat for many many years so the refrigerated trucks ARE in use.

I asked about the signs, and apparently non-cafe workers were putting the signs out even on the days the Cafe is not open - hopefully this has been stopped. They are in the process of getting everything working well before they have their official opening sometime in September and during this process, there will be times when they are not there on the scheduled days. However, once they do "fully open", they will be there consistently Tuesday to Saturday.

And yes, they have started the choose your cut of meat which they will cook to order. It's just the price per pound from the case no additional charge. Extra charge for any sauce, addition or side dish.

I've gotten to sample some of the food when I've been there doing the books, and it has been great. Be patient, they want to get everything RIGHT before they really open.

Lunch ideas in Port Townsend

Check out Better Living Through Coffee - just off Water Street - I think the cross street is Tyler. They use all natural ingredients but are very competitive price wise. Plus they have a frozen drink caled Espresso Freeze that's to die for - Starbucks, eat your heart out. For lunch, they have Salmon Chowder with Line Caught wild salmon, quiche, sandwiches, soups etc.

My only complaint is they need more salads. Website http://www.bltcoffee.com/

Single Beer bottle sales - Seattle

I'm an odd beer drinker in that I like flavor, but not hops. I don't drink beer except in hot weather (like now) and am interested in trying different brews. Most micro-brew beer is only available in six-packs. Can anyone suggest places to buy micro-brew singles in Seattle?

Thanks.

Best Shake in Seattle

I really want to find a strong coffee espresso milkshake. Cherry Street does a decent one but they start with vanilla ice cream. Eat Local on QA made one for me by hand yesterday using Molly Moon's Vivace Coffee ice cream that was great but I also love those made with a shake machine. Ideas for good espresso shakes anyone??
