Little Giant or Lupa? Mom's in town...

I have reservations at Little Giant and Lupa, and I can't decide which one to take my visiting Mom and Stepdad to.

Both are great fun, love good food and wine of any variety. We generally choose Italian (my Mom is 100%) but my Mom is a sucker for American dishes as well (fish, exciting salads, fresh ingredients, etc).

I have heard great things about both restaurants, but I can' decide which to choose! We are going for an early dinner (Lupa reservation is at 5pm and Little Giant at 6pm) because they are heading back to Philly afterwards/I am meeting up with a bunch of friends.

Dad's coming to town and that means Steak and Potatoes, no frills

My Dad is very much a steak and potatos kind of guy. He and my stepmom are coming to town in two weeks to visit and I need a good spot with non-fancy, but fantastic meat---lambchops, steak, short ribs. I need a restaurant that knows how to cook its meat to perfection. Neither of them drink, so I don't necesserily care about the drink menu (although naturally, I may have a glass).

Location--wherever! Preferably the East side.

Need an inexpensive (adventurous?!) place for dinner/date tonight downtown or what is your opinion on Pardo's?

My friend recently went to Pizza Gruppo and he said that the pizza was the best pizza he's ever had. They have a bar too apparently. You and your bf could split a gourmet pie and a great beer. That could be fun!

Not super trendy restaurant for laid back girls night

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

I ended up at Jane and had an AWESOME time---great food, perfect atmosphere (laid back, but classy, with a great mix of 'now and then' music. Service could definitely have been better but the girl was new and everything else was so great that we barely noticed. They sat us nearly right away too (we had a reservation, but we all know that usually that still means an extra 30 minutes). I will DEFINITELY go back! My friends couldn't stop talking about it....

Not super trendy restaurant for laid back girls night

Three of my girlfriends and I are going out to dinner tomorrow night, and we are looking for a place with a great atmosphere, a simple but excellent menu (American bistro-like...), good wine selection. We are in our early-twenties and don't want to break our banks, so we are looking for a place that's not too pricey! Hoping to venture outside of our Flatiron area apartment and perhaps into the East Village, SoHo, West Village, or somewhere fun.

A comforting restaurant with comforting food.

Any suggestions?
