Casual dinner in New Brunswick

Hi, I'm looking for a casual place to take friends (5-8 people total) for drinks and dinner on a Monday. Must not be too busy that a big group of us can't get in (with or without reservation). Must have liquor license and good food.

I've been looking at Old Man Rafferty's and Harvest Moon Brewery. Any thoughts?

St. Croix - special occasion restaurant

Hi, my husband and i will be in St. Croix for his birthday and I'd like to take him somewhere fine-dining with great food, hopefully with an emphasis on local ingredients. Any suggestions?

New Brunswick brunch

Hi, I'm looking for a good place for Sunday brunch in the New Brunswick, or North Brunswick or Highland Park areas. Hoping to go around 10 a.m. Open to anything, though less interested in dim sum. Thanks!

(Apologies if this has been addressed recently, but the most recent similar thread I found was a year ago.)

Really, Really Easy Dessert?

Swedish apple pie is often my go-to for a really easy dessert.

Mexican chocolate chip cookies?

Does anyone have a tried and true recipe for cookies made with Mexican chocolate? Primarily interested in that though I'd take any recipes that involve Mexican chocolate - cake, ice cream, etc.

Le Bernardin - what to order?

Any particular recommendations? desserts, too. And is tasting menu/wine pairing worth it?

My Dining in Tokyo & Kyoto

Perhaps I should clarify - the food was simple and the ingredients were just average. I had much better fish, both raw and otherwise, at several other places in Tokyo and Kyoto, and I had far better eel in Kumamoto. Sukiyaki was very average.
And I could care less about the decor; in fact I liked its simplicity. In terms of comparing it to European cuisine, the other Michelin-starred restaurants I've eaten at used flawless ingredients in much more creative and effective ways.

also, ponocat, can you post your url -i'd be interested in reading your reviews. thanks!

My Dining in Tokyo & Kyoto

we too had a very disappointing experience in koju, just last week. service was great, but the food was very simple and run of the mill. we had much better meals in kyoto and in the iwaso ryokan on miyajima. we've eaten in 3-star michelins in europe and this came nowhere close.

Kobe in Tokyo?

Hi,
I'm looking for a place in Tokyo that has terrific Kobe beef and:
1. i'll actually be able to get a reservation for mid-May (weeknight and late at night is fine)
2. it will have a reasonable chance of English speakers or an English menu
3. Isn't any more than 20,000 yen per person

apologies if this has been covered recently, I just can't find anything that fits my specific situation. thank you!

Cooking classes - Kinmata etc?

Hi, Has anyone heard about or taken the cooking classes available at the Kinmata ryokan in Kyoto?

Or can you recommend other cooking experiences in Kyoto or Tokyo? I'm going in May. Thanks!

casual Monday night dinner in Brooklyn?

Hi, I'm unfamiliar with Brooklyn, but going to be there tomorrow. Looking for a place to grab dinner by myself while waiting out rush hour traffic back home to Jersey. Can anyone suggest something that's open on Monday evenings? thanks!

Ryokan with onsen and great food?

Hi everyone,
we're planning a trip to Japan and wondering whether a Ryokan exists with really great food AND a hot-springs onsen, too. If so, we'd like to hang out in one for a few days. We're flexible on price. Location ideally would be somewhere along this route: Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Kumamoto (we'd go elsewhere on Kyushu too.)
many thanks!

Splurge restaurants in Ventura County

and...I'm looking to get my parents a restaurant gift certificate for Christmas. They like Japanese food a lot, but we've already done Nobu in Malibu. Looking for something good but not overly exotic - a tame New American or seafood place would probably be ideal. They live in Camarillo and I can't find anything good around there. Does anything exist?? Thanks so much!

Cooking classes in Ventura County?

Hi, I'm looking to sign my sister up for some cooking classes for Christmas - she lives in Newbury Park. Beginning baking/pastry classes would be ideal. Please let me know if there's anywhere you'd recommend (I live out of the area) - thanks!

Friends night out in Princeton?

Conte's for pizza and then the Bent Spoon for ice cream.

Red Mango - Koreatown

Hi, does anyone know whether the Red Mango in Koreatown has opened? Their web site says coming soon, but I'm visiting LA and will be in K-town Sat nite....

Recs for Princeton, NJ

The Bent Spoon is some of the best ice cream in the world. It's on Palmer Square in downtown Princeton. They use lots of local ingredients. Conte's is good, reliable thin crust pizza, very casual place. Teresa Caffe is also a good casual place.

butcher near Metuchen?

Anyone know of a good one? Reasonably happy with Wegmans....but would prefer an independent one....

Cherry Hill Area Italian???

have you tried bistro di marino in collingswood? food's pretty good, fresh, good service. (skip the dessert, it is terrible)

Anything worthwhile in and around edison?

Rasoi on Oak Tree Road is very good. And the dosas at Bombay Talk are lots of fun. I also loved Alessio for dinner.

How's the NYC Morimoto?

The Philly Morimoto is much better. Was slightly disappointed by NYC one last summer. I'd try somewhere else - or go back to the Philly one.

Good Indian in Cherry Hill?

I too love Coriander. Also, for more casual Indian try Rajbhog on Greentree, it's a chain Indian fast food place with great dosas

Berlin - which is better location for nearby, inexpensive food?

Kudamm will probably be more expensive, but there will be a greater variety in the immediate area than A-plaz. However, as Behemoth says, Mitte and Hackesher Markt is a great place for good inexpensive food.Great little Vietnamese places, a great little pasta place on Mulackstrasse, terrific falafel and ice cream at the corner of Torstrasse and Friedrichstrasse.
