Re Paris. Try Lao Siam in Belleville 49 Rue de Belleville. Relatively inexpensive, but very good Thai food. Items on the menu that I can't find in any US Thai restaurant.

I would say that St. Andrews Bar/Restaurant would be the one. The address is 20 W 44th St. Their food isn't bad either
Their theme is Scotland/golfing. The servers wear kilts.
Visiting Manhattan Midtown for first time - where to go for good food?
Consider the many Korean restaurants on 32nd St between Broadway and 5th Ave. This is the heart of Korea Town, right around the Empire State Bldg.
34th & 8th Ave.
Try any of the Korean restaurants 32nd between B'way and 5th. It's 1 block from Penn Station (+ 1/4 if you count crossing 6th ave.) I like Kang Suh (sp?) (south side of 32nd, closest to B'way.) If you don't like spicy food, try gilling beef at the table.
