Making a great pastrami sandwich

Dress the inside of pita bread halves with hummus or tahini. Add sliced pastrami, then salad of lettuce and cucumber and sliced onions. A little yogurt sauce might be nice too. Enjoy!

This is best with lebanese style pastrami but works with any kind you have lying around. I would skip cheese, mayo, or other things that mask the pastrami's flavor.

Garnish with side of olives and have a middle-eastern sandwich combo!

Eats in Central Mississippi?

Route changed a bit. No Hattiesburg, rather straight from Gulf Coast up to Jackson and then Natchez Trace to Port Gibson.

Recommendations in Biloxi, Ocean Springs, D'Iberville, Gulfport area.

The white cap! Does it still exist? I went there with my grandparents when it was at the Gulfport smallcraft harbor, this must be 25 years ago...

Recommendations in Biloxi, Ocean Springs, D'Iberville, Gulfport area.

This is an old thread but I appreciate these tips!

I grew up in this area and will be back soon, so I wanted to get a sense of where things stand.

Mary Mahoney's was pretty good for certain things, but I can't remember if I was there post-K or not. Shrimp were good. I recall Peach Cobbler and Bread Puddin' to be pretty good, but who knows, this may have been 2003 or 4...

Any other recommendations? What's food at the Blo Fly like? I remember eating there as a child in the 80s and the ribs were memorable!

UWS rejoice! Grand Sichuan coming to Amsterdam

Def. REJOICE! I AM REJOICE-ING!

The Grand Sich folks are pretty variable though, so it will be very interesting to see what chefs are working at the UWS location. Very promising, though! I can already taste the little pickled black beans...

Why does Whole Foods' Seafood Dept Suck?

I'm in Manhattan too and the seafood at 59th Street AND 96th has been severely disappointing. We got some great gulf shrimp there back last summer (pre Oil scare) and they were to die for. But recently we've sunk serious cash into shrimp and fish that was called "Wild Caught" but honestly, mehhh, I beg to differ.

I wonder if anyone else has the impression they are lying about the seafoods' point of origin? Because the "Wild Caught" shrimp from "USA" tasted a whole lot like farm shrimp from thailand in my opinion.

Macaroons

I KNOW OF ANOTHER PLACE! as of 2008, you can get them at the coffee bar of the New York Philharmonic at lincoln center, and they're amazing.

You dont' need concert tickets, but you do have to go in or near concert time.
