Saint John - The one in New Brunswick

Hi Hounds

I'll be going home for the first time in many years. I'm hoping you can point me in the direction of at least one good meal in the Saint John area.

I'm up for any suggestion from fried clams to fine dining to (if there is any chance) a Halifax style donair (no, greco won't cut it). What's new and fresh - Or traditional that I might have missed in the last 20 years? Any input will be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Addy - Colville - WA ?

Ok. I ventured out tonight and found an amazing Mexican place!

Rancho Chico
151 North Main Street, Colville, WA 99114-2305, United States

Great service, nice staff and wonderful food. 4 adults with drinks was $60 and we are all very happy. I spotted a good looking dish on the next table and didn't even look at the menu. It was shrimp wrapped in bacon and very mexican. Delicious!

The place that Jane is thinking of is called Lovitt. My mother-in-law said she hear it was 'good and expensive'. I said 'Let's go', but she didn't want to. Maybe tomorrow?

Addy - Colville - WA ?

Hi Folks

Here in the middle of nowhere visiting in-laws and hoping you have a hidden gem for me. Anything in the area worth seeking out, without the trip to Spokanne? If not, is there something amazing that is worth the drive to the city?

TIA
Tim

Looking for a good Donair place in Vancouver

Great place to hang - But not a Halifax Donair in sight. Small portion, packaged meat, open-face... It couldn't be more wrong.

Anyone know what happened to Beaver on Cornwall after the fire a while ago? That was a REAL donair.

Pico de Gallo

A bit of salt and cumin... Smells like Mexico.

If you want to get crazy, a little EVOO helps meld the flavours.

Some Google Maps fun: Vancouver Izakaya Crawl

I knew it would be tricky. Going on a Monday would be the only way to make that work. I'll have to try sometime, what fun!

On a side note, I was at Guu (remember when it was Japanese Kitchen Rakuu?) last night and once again blown away with the atmosphere and food. Great flavours and a vibe like no other. The last few eatings I've had were at Guu with Garlic and that's probably on the top of my list - A bit more polished than the others. But the original is still a great place for a great time.

Some Google Maps fun: Vancouver Izakaya Crawl

I can't believe that anyone can get to 4 of these places when they include Guu or Guu with Garlic in the list. They are the best in town and usually lined up out the door. Well worth the wait, especially Guu with Garlic. If the cerviche is on the menu when you are there, it is a must have. Beautiful presentation and wonderful taste.
