What was the name of that restaurant?
Does any one remember the name of the restaurant on the top floor of the St. Francis Hotel? This is around the late 1970's-early 80's. I remember they had a dress code (men had to wear jackets) and the food was really good.
Pasta near Nob Hill / Union Square?
SZMN, try the Nob Hill Cafe on Taylor Street. Additionally, get there early because there can be waits up the 30 minutes. I don't where the White Swan Inn is located, but; enjoy the work out walking up to the NHC.
Small winery in/around Healdsburg area?
Try Geyser Peak a few miles north of Healdsburg. Love their sauvignon blanc and reserve Alexander, red; more of a meritage.
Is going to Sai Kung worth it?
Dear Foodnut8, loved your post &videos of Sai Kung. During my first visit to HK, my cousin took us to Sai Kung, took an two hour boat ride (former fishing boat, the women also lives on it) around the island. I love seafood, unfortunately; during lunch not one seafood dish was ordered. Next time!

What is good to eat at the Hong Kong Airport? Have a six hour layover
Good move, Additionally if you take the MTR/Express train to Kowloon/HK, It's $90.00 HK dollars (12-13 US) each way. The restaurants at HK International are pretty good. It's not like your typical domestic airport fast food junk places. Albeit, I'm sure they have it at HKI.

Neal's Coffee Shop in the Burlingame Shopping Ctr. 1845 El Camino Real, Burlingame. However, on Saturday the place opens at 7:00 am....healthy menu, specialization in egg white omelettes.

Try Treyvards Restaurant at 62 High Street, Killarney. Website: treyvardsrestaurant.com/. It's an international fare. As far as hole in the wall type venues; just ask the people. They are extremely friendly and can recommend where the locals eat. Good luck!

Restaurant suggestions for 9 Course Dinner in SF Chinatown?
Kallani77, I've hosted two Chinese banquet style dinner at the New Asia Garden Rest. on 772 Pacific Ave. Warning, on certain nights they have live music, ballroom dancing along w. karakoke. Hence; holding conversation w. business people may be awkward. I've attended several events at Far East Cafe, on Grant Ave. for wedding banquets and red egg and ginger party. Far East may be a bit pricer. BTW, what turned you off from the restaurants mentioned in your short list? Good luck!

Local cuisine in Hong Kong; recommendations needed
Kam Shan is very good. Fresh fish is their specialty. I also enjoyed sop ga (steam chicken served cold) with ginger and oil sauce. A reminder; bring napkins. Local restaurants do not supply them. My first visit to HK was a month ago.
Visiting Hong Kong in November
In Guangzhou, we did have a quick lunch at Burger King! The egg custard (on tat) tasted like creme brulee, (not bad 30 cents US) considering a most restaurants in US going for $8.00 plus dollars. Additionally, please read my post to Charles Yu; as that I ate in some incredible places.
Visiting Hong Kong in November
Thanks again for those recommendations. I did indeed have wonton noodle soup at Mak Man Kee. Additionally, at Tso Choi's we had frog w. bitter melon & black bean sauce. One pm, we had sashimi at Sekaegara in Causeway Bay. Ate dinner (names were in Chinese) in Wan Chai and my last evening had seafood at Kam Sham Seafood Rest. on Woo Sung Street, Kowloon. I had an enjoyable trip and a wonderful time in HK. Can't wait to return. Enjoy your holidays!
Desperately Seeking Winter Salad Ideas
Try snow peas (steam for two minutes, immediately keep in ice bowl), fresh water chestnuts, and watercress, top off w. chow mein noodles. Use a honey mustard w. fresh lemon as a vinagrette. Use some ingredients from your late mothers spinach salad or use romaine lettuce. I love cold roast beef! Do you garnish w. a horse radish sauce?
Restaurants near Market/4th
Try Hana Zen, two blocks from the Marriott.

I think we ate at MNK.
My cousin informed me we ate at your referenced rest. Mak Noodles is the one I thought was MMK. Trying to cannibalized business. BTW. we ate around 11:00 pm land the place was packed. Mak Noodles had only two customers!
Visiting Hong Kong in November
Charles, my cousin took me to this place, which he called the best 'wonton noodle' place in HK. Next door was MMK. Does MMK have dining reviews in their windows? Additionally, the place we ate in was two doors to the left, as you are facing Mak Man Kee. Just curious.

I ordered a fish dish, but they ran out, tried another fish dish and they ran out of those items. Settled on a chicken dish (bones included) along with a order of gai lan (chinese brocolli). For dinner, my relatives took me to The Garden rest. on Nathan Rd. for Hot Pot. This afternoon, spent the day in Sai Kung and had HK style chow mein and Beef Chow fun....stuff I can order in the United States.
Thanks again!

Charles, I had lunch yesterday pm at Tso Choi, it was a great reco. I had congee at Nathan Congee & Noodle on Saigon. Unfortunately, menus are written in Chinese, so I did alot of pointing. Additionally, I learned to bring my own napkins/tissues!
New GREEK Restaurant coming to Applegarth Road, Monroe
