Great Sushi Chef Documentary Coming to Kendall
Hi! They finally posted the show times. We will be going to the showing at Kendall Square on Thursday the 12th at 6:45 (probably get there about 30 minutes earilier). There are about 12 of going so it should be fun. The plan is sushi after the movie since I am sure we will all be inspired at that point. Love to have you meet up with us!

So far we have been to Sushi Island, Oishi (including the most awesome cooking class from Chef Ting) and Haru's. Totally open to suggestions & recommendations. Usually it is group of 8-12 people who are all into trying new sushi places and are up for just about anything. Let me know if you have any thoughts since any input & company would be great. The more the merrier!

In case any other chowhounds are interested, a bunch of suchi-philes I know from a get together group are going to see the movie on April 12th & then go out for sushi. Not as cool as going to Jiro's in Tokyo, but as close as we can get for now.

Just off the phone with the theater in Kendall Square. They said it will be playing 4 times a day for 7 days starting April 6th. Also mentioned it would be playing somewhere in Brookline and Glousceter at the same time. Can't wait.

This looks fantastic. I checked the website but couldn't find a date for Boston. Do you know where and when it is playing? Itf it is not in the area, it looks so fantastic that it might be worth a road trip (a little closer than Tokyo). Thanks!
Curious about Red Lantern
Haven't been to the resturant but have had it delivered and really liked their food. For Americanized chinese food, it was above par.
Quick bite near Symphony Hall
Sorry to be a nay sayer... just had the worst experience ever at Betty's. After being seated for 40 minutes, we had no food, no beverages and had to ask 3 people just to get someone to take our order (which never arrived btw). Menu looked good and we were looking forward to a fun experience with good food.... not happening. Will never ever go back based on the rude service and lack of any food. I have had more fun and food at a bus stop....
Hideous experience at Betty's Wok Noodles
Thanks guys for the moral support. I have never walked out of a resturant before and felt a bit petty. Now I know we made the right decision. Guess I can now check off the Betty's box of places to go. Have a great holiday!

Hideous experience at Betty's Wok Noodles
Last night went to see an amazing concert at Symphony Hall for Handel's Messiah. Afterwards, my DC and I went to Betty's Wok Noodles for dinner. After being seating, 25 minutes later, we still had not talked to a server. We asked 3 employees passing by before a server showed up. After the order was taken, 15 minutes later, still no water, no food, no drinkes. When we complained, we were told they were busy - there were only 3 tables seated when we were seated and 8 tables seate after us had beverages and food. We left after 40 minutes of no service, food or simply water. Can't say what their food is like since we never saw any! And, BTW, the manager told us that they were busy and sorry, but......
Looking for a dinner club or cooking group for Texan transplant
Hi, this may seem strange but..... I have a friend from Texas staying with me in the Boston area for a few months. He is a huge foodie (cooking & dining out), and does not know anyone in the area. I work a zillion hours a week so am no help and my dachsund does not appreciate his cooking efforts & is not the best dinner companion. I know there is a great group of people that get together once a month in Austin for cooking/dinner clubs. Is there anything like this in the area. He (the guy, not the dachsund), is a great guy who is very articulate, cultured & seriously enthusiastic about food. Any help???? Thanks!
Mama Blanca's in Orient Heights (east boston)
Hi, The Zafferano spot is now a dentist's office (????). Mama Blanca's is about a 1/2 block farther down the block - across from the library and next to a liquor store & computer repair place. So far 3 other restuarants have failed in the spot (terrible parking), so I hope they do okay. It would be great if they are the same ones as in Maverick. Thanks!
Mama Blanca's in Orient Heights (east boston)
I noticed that after a month or two of dark windows, Mama Blanca's opened in East Boston on Saratoga St. in orient heights. It used to be a mexican resturant and before that Italian Express, but both closed pretty quickly. Does anyone know anything about them? Are they the same ones that were in Maverick Square? Thanks!!!
Looking for a great Indian restaurant for a first date
Hi guys and thank you for the great advice! It was actually his idea to go for indian (guess will be a good test to see if he is chow-worthy). If he had suggested Applebees' we would be done before we started. Fingers crossed!
