Singapore: Boss Wants Chinese

Meeting the boss for dinner in Singapore. To quote: "Let's go to a decent. Chinese restaurant where we can talk and catch up."
Don't think he has a regional preference.

Coffee in KL?

Thanks. Will try the Bangsar place. Yes, enjoy Kopi and have some ground for home. But need some beans for the morning pot.

Coffee in KL?

Recently moved from US. Figured proximity to Indonesia would guarantee good coffee availability. All I've seen is Coffee Bean and Starbucks.
Where can we find good beans? Preferably not in Ampang area (traffic makes me want to shoot myself).

Beijing Financial District

Here on business, traffic terrible. Any recommendations in this part of town?
Thanks for any help. Local food preferred. Street food just great.

Ultra- Fast Quebec Answer

Walked into Restaurant L'Echaudé without reservations (at suggestion of MTLNY) and friendly manager allowed us to eat at the bar. Bartender was outgoing and helpful with wine and menu choices. We split grilled vegetable appetizer. Straightforward with excellent bread. Went with bisro menu and had duck confit (excellent, frites were perfect, nice hearty salad-- overall a very generous portion) and fish/mussel soup (very good, solid, with a nice slightly spicy mayonaisse).
Wonderful ambiance with friendly staff and patrons.
great suggestion. thanks.

Annapolis and Baltimore dining questions

In Fells: For drinks, Woody's is a must. Don't eat there, just fun to sit and drink open air (covered) upstairs. For dinner, consider Pierpoint. Very small and quirky, but the owner (Nancy Longo) is almost always there and will cook to order. Her corn chowder and smoked crab cake are outstanding. She is a blast to talk to.

If we can only afford one "high-end" spot on our trip, WHICH?

Was at Herbsaint last night. The spaghetti appetizer with the egg on top was absolutely amazing. Would order it again and again. The fish of the night and the shrimp were great, but the pork belly was incredible. Goat cheese beignets for dessert.

Need Reccomendation Near Convention Center/Fells Point

A great thing about Baltimore is that while there are many places for great food, virtually none are upscale.
Lunch or dinner walking distance from convention center: Corks
Agree with Brewers Art for outstanding beer and excellent food.

Venice for 3 nights

we just returned from 2 days in Venice. Used the English translation of the Italian Slow Food guide for restaurants. The single best meal of our trip was the D' Alla Marisa. You get what they're cooking that night, 4 courses including wine for E35/person. We were fortunate that it was fish/seafood night. the antipasti were amazing: octopus/marinated sea bass/fish salad/mussels, and things got better after that. We sat outside on the canal and service was friendly and helpful. It is out of the way in a more residential and less touristy part of Venice. Take the Vaporetto to Tre Archi, and it is across the canal in view. No obvious sign.
Also outstanding was La Bitta. Owner very helpful with our lack of familiarity and Italian. No fish here (owner replied when asked why, "I don't like fish"). Finished meal with complementary late harvest red with owner. Again, mostly locals, few tourists. Price was about E30/person.

agree. went recently-bad; kids went recently-bad. not worth staying on the Fell's Point list with so many other great places, for seafood or atmosphere.

3 days in Baltimore-Where *MUST* I eat?

If the goal is to have a Balmore experience, you must get crabs and beer. Phillips in Inner Harbor is all tourist. Capt James crab deck (avoid the restaurant) is real Baltimore... on the water, excellent crabs, not much else. Close to Inner Harbor. Also good LP Steamers (eat outside on the upstairs deck). Less rustic with diverse menu (but can still eat on the water and get dirty) Bo Brooks. Obrycki's gets lots of press. Their pepper seasoning is great, but it is not on the water and is very pricey.
Also agree about Fell's Point. Would consider Pierpointe. Totally Baltimore, the chef, Nancy Longo, loves to talk to visitors.
For lunch, walk to Cork's and get one of the grilled cheese sandwiches.
