Jeopardy Winner

I thought he looked like 70's relief pitcher Rollie Fingers.

Jeopardy Winner

Today seven time jeopardy winner Greg Seroka lost. His total earnings were roughly 180,000$. The announcer said he is a professional chef. Like all professional chefs I assume he going to use the money to open a restaurant, (though I could be wrong.)
I'm just wondering is 180,000$ is enough to open a decent place?

Supermarket music

When I worked at a supermarket more than 20 years ago I remember the Muzak system playing two songs:
Allman Brothers Little Martha
The Theme From Thirtysomething

The other stuff I forgot.

Still Two Howard Johnsons left...who knew?

I was at the one in Bangor Maine almost three years ago. It was a little run down at the heels. The clam sandwich was good though.

Horrible Restaurant Names

This wasn't a restaurant but a gift shop in Walnut Iowa off I80. It was called Sophie's Choice, (maybe they should have seen the movie.)

Street Food (Pontiac MI)

Today instead of stopping for lunch a regular restaurant I went to place where they well selling bbq on an empty lot, (it was on Auburn near Paddock in Pontiac MI.) I had 2 Polish Sausages and chips. It wasn't bad, a nice change from the your average Coney Island. They also sell ribs and hamburgers. Has anyone out there have any experience with this kind of set up

Burgoo

Strangely enough I've been to Utica, Il. I'd like go to Kentucky Burgoo or no Burgoo. I've never really been to the south and I'd figure Kentucky is a good place to start. It's just I've read about Burgoo in Roadfood for 20 years and It sounded kind of good, (I like lamb or mutton.)

Burgoo

I have a question about Burgoo. Is it found just in Western Kentucky or all over the state? I'm thinking of making a trip to that state and I want to visit Berea and points east, (I'm in Michigan so it's just straight down I75.)

Gateway Deli (Southfield MI)

I remember me and my brother going there, (when it was the Esquire Deli) during the ice storm of 1979. The power was out at our house for about three days.

Soiled Kimono

VH1 had a Saturday Night Live marathon that ended last Sunday
One of the episodes with the original cast mentioned a drink called A Soiled Kimono. It was described as 2/3 French Champagne
1/3 Plum Saki, and topped of with a paper butterfly. Has anyone
out there heard of this drink? Maybe it was just made up for the show.

Zaxby (Heart Of Dallas Bowl)

Having never been to Texas, (except to change planes at DFW 25 years ago) I had no idea what a FM road is. I googled it and found out it's a Farm To Market Road. Thanks for teaching me something.
I was surprised that Zaxby's did not have that many locations in Texas. I thought they would be like Luby Cafeterias
or Hannaford Supermarkets in Maine, (a state I've been to.) Sometimes it seems I've learn a lot of what I know about Texas are from reruns of King Of The Hill.

Zaxby (Heart Of Dallas Bowl)

Right now I'm watching Zaxby's Heart Of Dallas Bowl, (La Tech is leading Illinois 14 to 9 in the first half.) My question is about Zaxby's. From what I can tell by their ads they are restaurant chain somewhat like Applebee's Or Bennigan's. Does anyone out there have any positive or negative experiences with this chain? I'm from the Detroit area, (our Quick Lane Bowl starts in about two and a half hours.)I don't know anything about Zaxby's.

(Since I started typing LA Tech scored on a pick six.)

What food gifts did you make / buy this year ?

My friend is a Fan of I Love Lucy so I got him a bottle of Vitameggin candy from The Rocky Mountain Candy company, (along with a Lucy Mouse pad.) They taste like Red Hots.

Wedding Borscht

A few days ago awhile watching the 60's Batman show they had on the third season Egghead Olga episode. While Olga was trying to seduce Batman she mentions something called Wedding Borscht, (the Egghead Olga episodes were kind of silly.) Has anyone out there heard of Wedding Borscht?, (or remember those episodes.)

Cereal and Saturday Morning Cartoons

Supposedly Bob Marley was a fan of the Banana Splits. Also, The Beatles liked H R Puffenstuff.

Cereal and Saturday Morning Cartoons

I don't have any clear memories about Saturday Morning Cartoons and the exact cereal I ate. I remember eating cereal in the kitchen and then watching cartoons, (no exact type, probaly a lot of Kellogg small boxes.) I also remember watching Josie And The Pussycats sometime in the 70's and having my first..., lets just say funny feeling.

Does anyone recall the PSA's featuring Timer on ABC? He was an odd shaped yellow guy who sang about nutrition. He had a bit about cheese, making a kind of frozen orange juice snack, and eating an unorthodox breakfast when nothing else is available, (such as peanut butter sandwich, or a piece of steak.) A while ago he had a bit on Family Guy. After keeping Peter up at night singing about cheese, we find out he also likes crack.

Dan Dan Noodles laced with opium?

There was a line in the much maligned 80's film Year Of The Dragon about a drug lord having "heroin in his soup". I haven't seen that movie in 26 years but I remember that line.

Coney Island's are somewhat unique to the Detroit area. Since you're downtown you might to try American or Lafayette, (though parking might b hard.)

Has anyone out there tried to Arby's Gyros? I did today. Lets just say I'm going to stick to there Roast Beef. Oddly enough the gyro meat tasted kind of like the Roast Beef. Olga's has nothing to fear, (neither does the local souvalki place.)

Moe's Tavern

The FXX Channel is well into it's 12 day Simpson's Marathon,
(season 18 starts in about 12 minutes.) My question is about Moe's Tavern. Has anyone ever been to a place as dingy and depressing as Moe's? I heard a long time ago it was based a few different places but I can't remember where.
