Brooklyn catering on a relatively tight budget
About 50 per person (without beer and wine). We are wondering whether renting all our own linens would be less expensive. Also we would welcome suggestions for restaurants--I have contacted Miriam, because I hear they do catering.
Vintage dutch ovens in ny
I'm looking for a Le Crueset or other good enamel and cast iron pots for a gift. Any suggestions for vintage cooking stores to try? I've already tried the Brooklyn Kitchen, no luck.
live lobsters
Thanks again to everyone. We went to Lobster Farm in Chinatown (it was open until 2). The Bittman bisque was quite labor intensive but everyone loved it. I'm a bit of a perfectionist though, and thought the lobster meat was a bit tough--it may have been because we overboiled it a few minutes, though.
live lobsters
Thanks to all for the suggestions. Are the Chinatown markets open on Thanksgiving, does anyone know? The places on the UES don't seem to be.

New Cheburechnaya in BK, and I'm freaking out over the soup
They have lots of kebab meats (lamb, beef, veal, quail, lots of different cuts) salads, like greek salad, israeli salad, and assorted sour vegetables, and interesting looking drinks, which i have not tried (like Tarhun, flavored with tarragon or woodruff).
New Cheburechnaya in BK, and I'm freaking out over the soup
It just opened in a strip mall at 518 Neptune Ave, Coney Island. The Lagman Soup--which I just ordered for lunch--is so delicious I kind of can't deal with it. It's got fresh noodles, dill, red peppers, cubes of beef and parsley, in a red, salty, meaty broth. The noodles are kind of holding onto the broth and it's hearty but still refreshing. Not sure how many similarities are between this place and the Rego Park one, but so far I'm impressed.
