Birmingham, Best Cheeseburger?
Definitely Becky's South. Its already been mentioned here. I can't believe nobody has mentioned Stadium Grill in Bessemer! You won't find a better cheeseburger in Birmingham. Also, the J&J in Mcalla has been serving cheeseburgers to workers and school-skippers for years. I haven't been in a while but its up there in most memorable burgers.
Mufaletta's in Bessemer. any fans?
I've been about three times and Its now one of my favorite places to eat.
Just picked raspberries and blueberries
Monday I picked some blueberries from my grandmother's yard and yesterday morning I made up a cobbler recipe. It was gone before dark. I mixed the traditional biscuit/pastry topping cobbler with the easy batter type cobbler. So basically lots of butter, flour, sugar, and Blueberries! I'll have to post the recipe as soon as I remember it...
Birmingham Pizza
I live about two blocks from Za Za and I haven't had better Pizza in a long time, flavor-wise. A little known fact: At breakfast tehy do great eggs any way you like em. And the Sunday brunch Breakfast Pizzas I hear are good.
Louisville,KY & beyond
If its late at night, check out Spinelli's for pizza and fried oreos. Blue DOg Bakery is a must. Its on Frankfort Avenue.
birmingham, alabama for one day
I'm not even going to get into the BBQ tangent argument going on here. But here are the places you must eat at on your trips to Birmngham. I have lived here all my life except for four years in Louisville for school. Here they are in no particular order
1. Muffaletta's in Bessemer (Italian/Creole/Comfort)
2. Becky's South in Southside or Stadium Grill in Bessemer (Cheese Burgers)- You decide.
3. Pete's Famous Hot Dogs in central downtown (Dogs, Special All the Way)
4. Moe's Original in central downtown (BBQ)
5. Bogue's off Clairmont (Comfort Food/Meat and 3/Breakfast)
6. Rojo (Latin/American)
7. Red Pearl Chinese Market on West Valley (Authentic Chinese food) Hard to find this place.
8. Mr. P's Dell in Bluff Park (Sandwiches)
9. Sol in Downtown (breakfast/lunch/Greek).
Ok I'll weigh in on the BBQ. I grew up with Johnny Ray's and still think its the most meat for you buck (Open Face Pork inside and out). However, I have since been swayed towards Moe's Original (Sandwich Box). Archibald's has best ribs.
