Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Antoine's is a great and you can almost always get in there. It's a huge restaurant, but the 10-12 different dining rooms never feel cavernous or empty. I'm sure you'll be happy there.
Jazz Fest Restaurant Recommendations
Unfortunately I think two of those spot Ain't Der No More. Pie in the Sky Pizza is closed for sure, the owner moved out of town and was the mastermind behind most of the creative topping combos. I'm pretty sure it closed before the storm.
BlueBird Cafe also closed since the owners wanted to retire, I think they just didn't want to work into their 70s and saw a chance to cash out. There is a breakfast place in the sam location called Coulis that has a similar vibe to BlueBird, and offers kind of polished diner breakfast dishes. Not fancy by any means, but still really good.
Vegitarian in New Orleans?
A friend of mine coming to visit is Vegitarian, anybody out there in Chowhound world got any suggestions?
Reservation at Cochon?
It probably would be best to call ahead, especially for a peak time like 7:30 or 8. I've called Cochon requesting a reservation, only to be offered a seating at 9:00 or later (which I declined). I came in, without a reservation, and only had to wait about 20 minutes at the bar, and was seated at about 7:30 anyway for a table for two. If you call today they probably have tables for Friday, it seems like they only fill up by Tuesday or Wednesday anyway. That's subject to any big events in town, but I've been there a number of times and that's my experience thus far. Let us know how it works out!
Fine dining close to the Ritz
In my opinion, walking anywhere from the Ritz can be a dicey proposition. On that end of Canal Street, I wouldn't say it is unsafe, but its best to be aware of your surroundings, just like any other city the size of New Orleans.
That being said, Susan Spicer's Bayona Restaurant is at 430 Dauphine Street, only three blocks into the Quarter from the Ritz. I've eaten there many times and never had a bad meal. If I had the choice, I would go there. Galatoire's and Arnaud's are also within a block of Bayona on Bourbon, and offer a more Old-line New Orleans experience. You can't go wrong with any of those three.
