The perfect resto for a mother-daughter sweet sxteen dinner celebration
So we just got back, and here is where we ate:
M-Thai on 8th ave for lunch Friday. Decent and very cheap. We ate at Farmers Rotisseria, which was great for basic rotisserie chicken and exptremely well priced. That was very importatn considering we were going to Eleven Madison Park Saturday night - it was AMAZING - they were so wonderful and thoughtful to my daughter. Knew it was her birthday dinner because of my comment on open table and made the evening very special from start to finish. Food was amazing and the whole experience was terrific. DIdnt have time for the Bar Room at MoMA sunday for lunch as we had tickets to Godspell (WOW what a great show - see it!) Ate at Otto Sunday night. Crazy noisy with tables an inch apart. Fun vibe, I guess, as long as you are not stuck with a very loud person next to you (we were, and he was insufferable.) The apps were good but the mains were not - I had the Spaghetti Carbonara and it was unbearably salty. I would say the cafe at the MoMA where we had lunch was better than Otto. Oh well, can't have it all. A great weekend was had by all...

The perfect resto for a mother-daughter sweet sxteen dinner celebration
Hi - the itinerary is shaping up, so hoping for more advice. here is what we have so far:
-Friday - pre-theatre resto needed - was thinking of Saju bistro. We are seeing Anything Goes so it is close.
-Saturday - shopping in Soho etc, thinking of Kutshers for lunch, then a late dinner at Eleven Madison Park (got a 9:30 reservation)
-Sunday - potentially brunch/lunch at the Modern (or Bar Room at same) before we see Godspell; no idea about dinner, but thinking of Balthazar
Any additional recos for pre-theatre Friday and Sunday, as well as dinner Sunday would be welcome! thank you.

Thanks. We may do The Modern for a more leisurely meal. She also loves tapas or any small plates. Recos for great small plates would be appreciated too.

Thanks. What about a pre-matinee brunch place. We have tickets to Godspell Sunday. We may also need a pre-theatre place for either Fri or Sat, as we are likely going to see Anything Goes as well.
Thanks.

Hi,
I'm taking my daughter to New York first weekend in March for a special sweet sixteen celebration. We are going to a couple of shows, shopping, and want to eat some stellar food. Considering The Modern, EMP (if we can get in), Balthazar, Babbo...look to you fellow hounds to add to my list and help me make this THE most special weekend!
Montreal - What not to miss?
I was given chocolates from Genevieve Grandbois that were really beautiful, aside from being simply delicious. If you are willing to go "off the beaten track" i would try hers... she's at 162 Saint-Viateur Street West, a few blocks east of Parc. You can try some authenitc Montreal bagels while you are up there.
Help for a single mom with 2 gourmet daughters travelling in Napa/Lake Tahoe next week looking for resto suggestions...
I will be travelling to Napa (Calistoga) and then Lake Tahoe (Kings Beach area) next week and am looking for some great places to eat with my two daughters. We are all foodies, but my daughters are 13 and 10 so uber-fancy, great wine list places will be lost on them. Plus, we have somewhat of a budget to respect, so nothing too expensive - unless it can't be missed and we can get the cheaper meal at lunch. It is our first vist to these areas (but have been to the Bay area many times) so we are open to ideas on what to do as well...all suggestions welcome!
