Dosas near Grand Central!!

Grill 44 is what is on the receipt I got. I wonder if they still do the Middle Eastern food. In the bain-marie it is all about Indian food now. They have kathi rolls too that look great. I'd like to try them, but can't stop eating the dosas.

I recall that the flyer suggested that they have been open for a few years! But maybe there has been a change in ownership or new menu or something. They are definitely actively promoting the place. On my now frequent visits, I have seen one of the staff standing outside with a tray with cut up dosa samples to lure those passing by. I'll take note of the deli's name next time I'm there, which will be soon, I'm sure.

You don't have to venture to Curry Hill to get tasty dosas if you are in Midtown East. There is a small deli on the south side of 44th street between 3rd and Lexington that has amazing dosas. I've been going a couple of times a week since I learned about it through a flyer. I would never have thought to go inside if I had just spied the place on the street. The place is very unassuming (think classic divey deli seating, tiled floor, plastic trays and overflowing trash can), but well worth venturing inside. You will NOT be sorry! The crepe itself is everying a dosa should be including tasty and crisp. The masala version has a very delicious concoction of onions, spices and potatoes. The accompanying sambar and coriander and coconut chutneys are perfection. Yum! Can't wait to go back again.
