Thor123, sorry but the last time 4 years ago, will be the only time! no doubt after a good drunk, that kinda "pizza" can have some appeal...my drunk daze are over and so is any chance id eat that...as I mentioned, a pizza pal reviewed Barone's for "Slice" and his word and his fotos are all the proof i need!

Best 'Crinkle Cut Fries'? Crispy! Mmmm :~)

Growing up in NYC and having "dined" at Nathan's(by the way, great new "doc" out called "Famous Nathan), i Know of great crinkle cut fries and id be shocked if Langer's could ever be described like that...But, OCSteve, thanks for the tip, I will give them a try again but ask for "well done."

Pizza, back to back

Two great yet very different pizza experiences this week. My 3rd visit to MiDiCi in Sherman Oaks and their VPN-certified pizza, in this case a margherita with meat balls, was the best so far, as was the entire dining experience. The staff seems to have gotten into a groove...and now that i know their "pizza protocol," I felt more relaxed. The first 2 visits, I was not really prepared for their Chipotle-style "line approach. And I'll control myself and not express how i feel about this marketing bullshit. just look at the photo, thats all you "knead" to know. I had a better and more traditional pizza experience at South End pizzeria and wine bar in MDR. Though my friend, Mario Vollera, wasn't in (Mario is the executive chef @MiDiCi, too), Enzo took great care of us. Though he still works with Peppe Miele of VPN Americas and Antica Pizzeria fame, Mario and his associates go a different direction at their place. The crust is most similar to the Mozza artisanal bread style...kind of a big cornicione relative to the pizza "face," but it's perfect...airy and with a nice crispiness, unlike the softer crust of VPN pizza. they have a nice spicy sausage they make and they make their own mozzarella. They also know their wine and how to pair the right vino with the appropriate pizza. We got there kinda early so, no wait...Perfetto!

dont know how anyone can say Langer's fries are the best...i almost ordered extra cole slaw instead of those awful, under cooked potatoes

MidiCi

hey paranoidgarliclover! glad we concur on MiDiCi...yes, i did post a short write up of my very positive experience...id think it would pop up here...i was back a 2nd time and it was again, excellent...had a great gorgonzola salad, too...i would add that the ambiance is definitely a couple rungs above the fairly stripped down approach of the only 800 Degrees ive been to, the original...i thought 800 Degrees was known for the low price as much as anything...i dont remember MiDiCi being $5.99...i'll be goin back soon!

800 Degrees Has the Best ... Pizza in LA

pitfire def doesnt belong in that group...whatever they charge, it aint worth it...and i think i read recently that Brad Kent of Olio is hooking up to make Pitfire a national 1000 branch biz...he's fuckin nutz!

800 Degrees Has the Best ... Pizza in LA

the owner and, i presume a few of the "line workers" were trained by the best Neapolitan pizza makers around...unfortunately, when you sart getting delusions of grandeur and are ego maniacal narcissists like Anthony Carron apparently is, you think you can recreate quality on a massive scale...you cant! so fuck you and the Pitfire crew and their 1000 locations! i'll spend a few extra dollars and get the real shit!

So apparently, San Diego is the Country's Seventh Best Pizza City

New Haven undoubtedly deserves to be on this list which is about the "best" pizza, not neapolitan style which New Haven cannot be considered close to.

El Chevere, if youve been eating SD pizza, you will be glad you went to Grimaldi's in El Segundo...get off the 405 at Rosecrance...its in an office complex...so thats a little strange but just judge by the pizza!
