Lamb BBQ In Edison

There is another BBQ place down the street, Picnic Garden in the H-mart plaza. They don't use coals there.

Burgers in Central NJ

It's definitely not limited to burger-only joints. But any non-burger only joint, I tend to avoid ordering them, especially if it's my first time at the establishment.

The only exception is that I know ahead of time that they are known for having a good burger, either through a review or recommendation by a friend.

Burgers in Central NJ

I will definitely try White Rose. I used to live down the street from this tiny hole in the wall place White Manna. I wonder if there is any relation?

Burgers in Central NJ

Just moved to the Edison area and looking for a decent burger place. I'm originally from NNJ and spoiled by the plethora of burger joints (smashburger, bobby's burger palace, shake shack). Is there anything, that is comparable to the places I mentioned?

It doesn't matter if it's a chain or not. I know there is a 5 guys and red robin, but I'm not a fan.

lamb & rice (like 53rd& 6th halal guys) in NJ

I love ordering the chicken/lamb combo over rice at the famous halal guys on 53rd st. & 6th ave, and trek out there during work in the city, and know of some people who drive from Jersey just to eat there.

My cousin told me that there is a Jersey outpost (or something similar) but it sounds like a rumor to me. Does anyone know of a cart or restaurant in NJ or is there another place which serves similar foods?

Where can I find Yeo's soymilk can in NY?

I prefer the taste of Yeo's soymilk than a brand like Silk, and like the fact that it's in a can for portability. I was able to find Yeo's in places like H-mart, but havent seen it in years. i've seen it in some Asian markets in nj & ny but in a box container, not the can. Has anyone else seen it in can form?

Columbian nights - Englewood

I went to the restaurant the other night through a recommendation from friend whose has been there and raved about the food. The place was very busy and did not wait very long. The service was not good, they didn't order right, took way to long, and the bus boys gave us more service than waiters.

The food was great despite getting it wrong, big portions and every cheap, esp for this area. I would love to go again, but is this place only worth going just for takeout or I came on an off night?

More affordable Lobster and Lobster rolls in NJ

There I changed the title to "more affordable" or maybe "cheaper than an arm and a leg" is better:)

More affordable Lobster and Lobster rolls in NJ

Working in NYC, ive been exposed to good (and expensive) lobster rolls. Maybe its a trend that they are flourishing everywhere, but im hooked (no pun intended). Are there any decent and affordable places I can get them? Particularly north NJ or even the shore area.

Another option is buying the lobster myself, preferably cooked, but the supermarket variety is somewhat under-par. Are there any places I can get decent ready to sell cooked lobster?

Restaurant Week - Pork Belly.... rip off?

I've been to 2 places during restaurant week, The Modern & Aureole. First went to The Modern where my boyfriend ordered a pork belly dish. He found that it had just a small morsel of actual meat underneath and the rest mostly fat, deeming most of it inedible.

I've eaten and prepared pork belly myself (being Asian) and thinking it was probably the restaurant itself giving us a bad cut. I know its a fatty cut, but I remember pork belly having the fat and meat alternating in layers, a 50/50 or 40/60 of meat to fat.

The following day we went to Aureole and port belly was on the menu again. To prove him wrong, I ordered it and had the same problem- I was served a small 2x2 square of fatty meat.

I was wondering, since I do not dine normally at such nice restaurants, is pork belly usually served like that normally or it just a custom of restaurant week of being served such small portions? I love pork belly, but should I just not order it again at these type of places?

Best Produce in Bergen County

If you want something close by in the Teaneck area I go to Julio's on Queen Anne Rd. I especially get their fruit there.

Momofuku steam buns recipe (whats the most accurate or best?)

Ive tried both versions of the recipe, Martha Stewart & Gourmet. I like the wet brine better than the dry. If you don't cover the dry one during most of the cooking the meat becomes more dry than crispy, esp. if you can't find a big slab of pork belly.

With the buns im lucky to live near Chinatown and save the trouble by buying mantou (is that how you spell it?) steamed buns. They were a little thinner than I would like it to be but still just as tasty.

Valentines Day help PLEASE :)

is that the restaurant from former top chef contestant Ariane? How was your experience there?

....also if you are going towards more entertainment side rather than fine dining, what about some hibachi type restaurant like Mt. Fuji? (the NY location has a dramatic location)

or may I dare suggest Medieval Times? I don't know how you feel about that, but its fun in a corny way.

Where can I find YEO's soy bean milk in NNJ?

I used to go to H Mart in Little Ferry, but now its not on the shelf anymore. I checked the other H Mart near Fairview and Mitsuwa. Any Suggestions or possibly substitutions?

Momofuku steam buns recipe (whats the most accurate or best?)

Yeah that would be the obvious choice, but when I saw the Martha Stewart recipe, it was a video with david chang (the owner). The difference between MS and the book was:

MS - 1/2 salt & sugar, 5lbs pork belly, cook at 350 degrees then 450
Book - 1/4 salt & sugar. 3lbs pork belly, cook at 450 degrees then 250

did he change the recipe or he is not being truthful? lol

Momofuku steam buns recipe (whats the most accurate or best?)

Hi for thanksgiving im making pork steam buns (like momofuku...cheaper to make than buy) and after researching found 3 different recipes claiming to be momofuku....use different types of flour, different amount & cooking methods of pork. Which one would be the best? Has anyone tried to make these?

Has anyone been to the Bethwood in NNJ?

Im going there soon and want to know if the food is good, decent, or sanitary enough to eat. Last time I went to a special occasion venue, I got food poisoned (not naming which one), and have been paranoid since. I just want to hear both good and bad experiences so I know if I should eat before I go there.

Blueberry Picking

If your willing to make a day trip outta it, there is this place just near six flags in Jackson where you can pick your own blueberries. Ive never been to this place but driven by it plenty of times. I wouldnt expect the most superb berries but its something to do if your around that area exhausted of rollercoasters and outlet shopping.

Bon Ton Chicken - Northvale, NJ

Ive eatened at the Leonia location and it is seriously addictive. The price though is a bit too much ($12 med, $20 large) and the portions...small. But the taste and texture of the chicken is incredible and can kick hooters t&a's anytime. It also comes with pickled radish which makes a good combo with chicken.

looking for milk in glass bottles in north nj

I remember when I was a kid my aunt brought me whole chocolate milk from some market in a tall glass bottle during the summertime especially. It was really creamy and fresh, and probably as close to the farm as you can get. Ive checked places like whole foods and other supermarkets around the area and haven't seen anything like that. Is there any place that I can get it up here, thats available all year round? Anywhere is Bergen county in particular...
