Best pickles
The spicy pickles that come alongside the french dip sandwiches downtown at Cole's.
I have to lose some pounds what's a foodie to do?
I've been to Thyme Market a bunch of times. It's not as expensive as Huckleberry and their food is yummy, a great place to have in the neighborhood. Not as large menu as H. The servings are small at TM but seem larger if you get the food to-go. But after finishing the plate I feel perfect, not overfed and ill. They have a salad I like, a grilled salmon salad with celery, capers, herbs, etc., served with greens, grape tomatoes and green beans. Healthy and $8.50 I think.
The Curious Palette on Venice Blvd. has their Curious Salad. Greens, giant xmas lima beans, beets, artichoke hearts, roasted peppers, those shriveled salty black olives, a scattering of feta. Get it with an add-on of chicken breast. Their small salad with chicken added fills me up for lunch and is also under $9.
BLD Restaurant: "Baby Grace" - Has anyone been? Feedback, please?
went there for a group dinner recently. not that exciting. expensive charcuteries, not a lot on the plate.
Grilling fish/Seafood markets
SM Seafood is great especially with their new location which includes a cafe. The guys behind the counter are always willing to give suggestions for fish type and cooking methods based upon your tastes. I have been super pleased with the quality and cost compared to Whole Foods. I'll never buy fish at WF's again. SMS has a larger selection than WF and just tastes fresher. I also sometimes buy in small quantites, just for myself, and the guys there are really nice and helpful. Worth the cost. I do see weekly specials in the newspaper.
Sorry, no reccs for the valley.

Capri on Abbot Kinney in Venice - any good?
There's never anyone in there. I ate there once several years ago. There's something to be said maybe for a restaurant on Abbot Kinney where you can go with no rezie and have no wait? (Although I'd rather get a slice from across the street.)
Intelligentsia Venice now open
I was there last weekend for the 1st time. It was mellow but the few of us in line were confused as to where to go. Beautiful airy space. I just had a drip coffee which was bitter but I like that they have agave syrup for 25cents. Nice service. I'll go again at some point and have something more exciting than a drip. This won't be my drip go-to. (But I miss Scentiments, it was the best flower shop in Venice.)
