I am thinking about staying there this Spring but how is the food?
20 Water St restaurant & Warehouse Tavern, East Greenwich, RI
Just moved into the area and I discovered this place. Any thoughts before I go in and try it?
In need of a great Sauvignon Blanc or similar wine available in New England.
my favorite Sav. Blanc are White Haven or Kim Crawford, both from New Zealand. From Cali I would reccomend, Franciscan or Folie a Deux. All of these are $20 or less. If you want to go a bit crazy, Provenance, Far Niente, or Napa Cellars are all fantastic and all under $50.
Best Single Malt Whisky Bars in RI??
the Mews tavern inWakefield RI has close to a 100 single malts, most of which i have never heard.
Cuban Revolution - Providence
they were just voted best new restaurant in RI by the Providence Phoenix. I don't know why but they were.
CSA's in RI
There are a great number of CSA's in RI please go visit www.farmfreshri.org there you will find a list of 20 or so farms. There will also be addresses, contact numbers and even links to farm websites. Manic Organic is great but they are not the only one. You can even get fresh organic meats and many if not all of them are selling in various farmer's markets across the state.
Raphael's in Providence Closed
jenluxy, oddly enough, there is a story about why they closed in todays PROJO. Raphael's is a casuality of the economy. They were very slow and bills mounted up forcing them to close. The day before there was a story about Giros in wakefield closing for the same reason. When money is tight, eating out at restaurants becomes an unaffordable luxury. Forums such as Chowhound are badly needed to encourage people to go out to eat at restaurants and to try new ones. The restaurant industry is taking a major hit during this recession. And there will be more stories like Raphael's to come.
German food in New England?
It may be a drive, but throught out the entire month of October, Relefsen's, in Bristol RI is serving up there October Fest menu. they do it every year and they have live German music and dancers. I believe that it is held every wednesday and thursday and you need to call for reservations because it fills up fast. The Food is about as authentic as you will ever get outside of Bavaria.
Bristol, RI today-- looking for recs.
Hi caroline,
Casual seafood place with a great lobster roll is definitely the calling card of Quito's. Its a traditional clam shack over looking Bristol Harbor. For something a little more upscale try the Lobster Pot, BUT if you want to really impress your husband, the absolute best restaurant in Bristol is Persimmon. Although it is not someplace to take a 1 year old, it is however an incredible place for a nice romantic dinner with your husband. I have lived in Bristol all my life and I can not envision myself ever moving we not only have some great restaurants, but we also are close enough to Providence and Newport to also enjoy what they offer.
