Silver Seafood

chicago - state street area

a very underraed place is Barro at Lake and Michigan. Rockit at State and Hubbard has been voted the best bar food in America. Frontera Grille isn't too far away if you are into haught mexican.

Per Se or Eleven Madison?

i ate at both places in the past 2 weeks and here is my take.

From a FOOD only perspective, EMP is better. I thought their execution was crisper and didn't try to overengineer some things. Per se tried to be more inventive, but they really didn't deliver.

Per se was saved though by the quality of its service and wine list.

What were your top 5 meals of 2007?

i'm limiting my responses to Chicago.

6. Moto
5. Avenues
4. Opera
3. Boka
2. Niche
1. Kaze

(and yes, I went to Alinea and Schwa in the past year)

MSP - Via (Edina)

been there once.. service was ok... a bit surly, but no worse than most minneapolis restaurants. However, the food was passable at best. my pasta was overcooked and the meat on it wasn't high quality.

Niche

been meaning to write this for a few weeks, but haven't remembered. But I want to give a great review here on Niche in Geneva. Many of you remember the former 302 West and most of the old staff came over for this place.

In my opinion, it has the same four star quality of 302 West with a lower price. Great contemporary American menu that changes every nice. I had some scallops prepared perfectly and wiey had some bison that was perfect at well. some incredibly prepared veggies and potatoes ai gratin were sides. Service was impeccable as well. If this restaurant was downtown, it would be on everyone's top 10 list.

best Twin Cities Thai lately

I've always been a fan of Seewatde (spelling might be wrong). some great spicy curries, which is nice since most of the area Thai restaurants tend to scale down their spice for the local pallete.

Chicago Barbecue

another vote here for Fat Willy's. They slow cook the ribs with perfect flavor and all of the sides(except for fries) are top notch

Nice restaurants near the Fairmount hotel in Chicago?

agreed. you won't find many places in the city better than Aria.

Best buffalo wings near downtown??

Unfortunately, BW3 is probably better than most of the other options mentioned here. Duffy's wings are also pretty decent. Honestly, though, Chicago is not the city for wings.

Looking for Jackson, MI Recommendations

not much "fine" dining in Jackson, however, I also like Giglio's on Brooklyn road whenever I pass through.

3 Brothers w/ Wives in 3 nights (6 'Hounds)

the homestyle food at RoseAngelis is great. you should know, though, that only a few dishes on the menu have meat. Only two negatives about Rose Angelis'-- 1) they don't take reservations and the wait can be long on weekends and 2) service can be slow during peak times, not the fault of staff, but i think they probably don't have the capacity in the kitchen for the size of the restaurant; service tends to be better in the winter since noone is eating outside.

Another great italian choice is Filippo's on Clybourn

Dinner at Boka

great review. Boka has long been one of my favorite and the orange creme brulee is one of the best desserts in the city.
