The Mall and Visitors

As others have suggested, the best dining options when visiting the Mall will likely involve a taxi or the Smithsonian metro stop. With those, your options are virtually unlimited.

Appeal of larger sized Maryland crab, considering cost?

Yes. Fall crabs are where it's at, big or small. Thanks for posting.

Famous Regional Food you find embarrassing or disgusting?

Yes, that's the version my wife uses with her fourth graders. I gave you my cousin Paula's.

Famous Regional Food you find embarrassing or disgusting?

Here's the recipe. Scale depends on the size of the crowd, but the ratios are this:

1 big can of Hormel Chili
1 small can Rotel tomatoes w/chilies
1 hunk of Velveeta, cubed 1/2" or so

Dump it in a pan, bake until molten. Spoon it into an individual bag of Fritos, or (my preference) into a paper bowl of the big Fritos. Add Crystal sauce. Go deluxe by tossing in some of those little cocktail franks.

Legal Seafood Montgomery Mall

They probably do better in PQ, since K Street is mostly deserted after happy hour.

Washington DC for a five day sisters' trip

On the whole, I'd say Toronto sounds like the better place to be this time of year.

Legal Seafood Montgomery Mall

The Legal Seafood at 20th and K closed a few years back. The only two Ieft near DC that I know of are in Crystal City and the north terminal at DCA.

Famous Regional Food you find embarrassing or disgusting?

I did it backwards. I took my Florida retirement on the front end at age 19. 25 years later, I took a real job "up north". A trailer on the beach and a cabin in the mountains is starting to look good. Love the mountains, hate the winters. Love the beach, hate the summers.

How often do you drink at lunch during the work week?

See, I'd rather have a beer or two with my noon meal than at the end of the day when it's time to go home. My drink of choice during weeknights is usually water, maybe a glass of wine occasionally with a nice steak.

Most of the responses on this thread seem to be on the order of "i won't have a drink at lunch because people will think I'm an alcoholic and I'll be fired". I find that sad. People in this country should be allowed a little more joy in their day-to-day lives. That is one of the hallmarks of a civilized society. Clearly, the corporate ant farm model is winning the day.

Those with liquor licenses.

How often do you drink at lunch during the work week?

I have a question of my own--what's the big deal? If you want a drink of liquor at lunch, have a drink. If doing so puts you in fear for your job, then don't. Simple as that.

VA BBQ that isn't Rocklands or Dixie Bones

I like the brisket at Rocklands on Wisconsin Ave. The ribs were more like jerky the one time I tried them, so I stay with the brisket.

The ribs at Black Hog in Frederick are consistently good.

Triple Crown on 211 in Luray has the best smoked pork around. Added bonus: The owner builds custom guitars in his shop around back. If he likes you and he's not too busy, he'll invite you to go back there and play a few. Great guy; outstanding barbecue.
