Above Average Flavored Cream Cheeses

Hello,

I'm looking for recommendations for shops that make their own flavored cream cheeses. Its a small detail, I know, but sometimes you find a veggie cream cheese, for instance, that really rises above the standard! Preferred locations are Center City, Main Line, Jenkintown area. Thanks!

Ideas for 2 gatherings in City Ave area?

Hello,

We are looking for locations in the City Ave area during a wedding weekend. The wedding site has already been selected (in Fairmount Park), but we're trying to find some additional venues to round out the weekend. Any ideas would be a big help!

1) As guests start arriving in town, we'd like to offer them restaurant suggestions for dinner. Factors we're taking into consideration: convenience from hotels on City Avenue, casual, easy on the wallet, low-stress parking and space to seat whoever arrives without a wait.

2) As the guests depart, we'd like to host a farewell breakfast. Here, we're looking for a space that could provide beverages but would allow us to bring our own food (we are bagel snobs and also have developed high standards for our coffee cakes!). Any ideas for community spaces, galleries, or other venues that could accomodate 75 guests and allow easy access to City Ave and the expressway?

We've been mentally taking inventory of what we know in the City Ave area, but some fresh ideas would be helpful! Thanks for any that come our way!

Farmer's Pride in Upper Roxborough

I second this recommendation of Farmer's Pride. My favorite hoagie there is the Italian tuna (oil packed tuna, no mayo). They also sell pierogies from the Pierogie Shop in Roxborough and P&S ravioli and sauce. One block away, at the corner of Henry and Umbria is a guy who sells produce from a van. Not everything is homegrown, but from my past experience, the corn he brings in from his uncle's farm in NJ is top notch!

Quick: Breakfast suggestion, Chestnut Hill

Hello,

Sounds like a lovely way to spend a weekday!

Here are 2 suggestions, both within easy walking distance from Regional Rail:

Cake - located in the solarium of Robertson's florist shop. Baked goods and breakfast options featuring local ingredients. (SEPTA R7)

8501 Germantown Ave. (Highland Ave.) Philadelphia, PA 19118 (215-247-6887)

French Bakery - small, off the beaten path. It is not directly on Germantown avenue; follow a small walkway to a cluster of shops behind the main drag (SEPTA R8)

8624 Germantown Ave.
215-247-5959

Something blue...

FYI, here is a picture of the blue cornbread + other items on the lunch tray. More purple blue upon inspection!

Something blue...

I had a blue cornbread last week in the cafeteria of the National Museum of the American Indian. It was very blue!
