New Rochelle/Westchester
guess so :) I guess with living between NYC and Westchester that I forget about the one up north...
Still, there's really nothing in Westchester compared to Riverdale. Wish they would consider opening more Kosher eateries there and I might consider relocation one of these days...
New Rochelle/Westchester
Nothing really is around there, unfortunately - I don't believe there are any hechshered places in Westchester outside standard take-out places. But if you go to Riverdale (about 15-20 minutes away), there are a few nice sit down places.
* Cafeccino Bakery (269 W 231 St) - the best pizza I've tasted in NY, nice omelets, wraps, etc.
* Carlos and Gabby's (259th and Riverdale Avenue, SW corner)
* Gruenbaum's Bakery (259th and Riverdale Avenue, in Skyview Shopping Center)
* Corner Cafe and Bakery (between 236th and 238th on Riverdale Avenue) with an adjoining meat place called the Corner Grill
There are others (Judean Hills Pizza, Ginger Grill, Two Cousins Burger, Riverdelight) as well.
Hope that helps.

Never been there but you should check out the other thread: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/842433

Yeah, I can see the backlash on this one.
Hopefully the food is good though :)

"There's been this crazy attention towards updated Jewish fare but what we're looking to do is take a great chef like Bradford Thompson and have him prepare sophisticated American food in a sexy, young environment," adds Senderowicz.
... guess this is why they chose the name. But I wouldn't recommend going to the .com version of this as it's one of the raunchier Gawker blog network properties.
I assume the name could potentially offend patrons who accidentally end up there in search of the eatery.
Pesach HOTELS 2012
I'd recommend starting a new thread with this question. This one seems to be dedicated to Pesach hotels versus places to stay for Shavuos.
Reviews of Passover Hotel Programs?
That'd make the difference for me. Thanks for the info. :)
Did anyone say HOME for Pesach this year? Highlights of your meals?
Cancellation the day before Pesach? Is that even legal to hold your money for nondelivery of services? Why did they do that?
How'd you like the Meal Mart stuff? I saw them on display but I was too afraid to get anything.
Reviews of Passover Hotel Programs?
My parents were there this year too with my sister and brother-in-law. My mom said that the program this year was much much better than last year. She's trying to convince me to go there. If I'd go, I guess it's not for the food but for that beautiful beach.
Did anyone say HOME for Pesach this year? Highlights of your meals?
I stayed home but I didn't make anything. I bought from Park East Kosher on the Upper East Side/NYC. *Everything* was great, but I had some minor complications with my order which caused a delayed delivery and the wrong product being delivered. Thankfully, they made up for both when I reordered for the last days.
Is 16 Handles (153 2nd ave.) kosher?
I see you posted this many places. Honestly, you could always check the sites directly or other sites that list supervisions.
16 handles???
You can search Koshertopia to find out. That's what I did and here's what I found: International Kosher Council (IKC) (Rabbi Zev Schwarcz)

IMPORTANT QUINOA INFO FOR PASSOVER
Due to the nature of that alerts.php page being frequently updated (e.g. if you check this post closer to Pesach, a new alert will probably push the quinoa alert down, or the warning may even be removed by that time), I thought it would a good idea to copy/paste this alert for reference here.
February 23, 2012
In 2007 HaRav Gedalia Dov Schwartz, Shlit''a, the Av Beis Din of the Chicago Rabbinical Council, issued a p'sak that quinoa is not considered kitniyos and therefore may be used on Pesach. Most of the quinoa comes from Peru and Bolivia and has been grown in areas where other (problematic for Pesach) grains were generally not grown. However, as the popularity of quinoa has risen, this is no longer the absolute case. This was confirmed this year by a Star-K mashgiach who visited Bolivia and found that barley does indeed grow in those areas. It was also recently discovered that some farmers cover their quinoa with barley and/or oats to keep the birds from eating the quinoa while it dries. Finally, there is a concern that the sacks used to transfer the quinoa may have been previously used to hold barley or oats.
We have, therefore, determined that the only way to allow quinoa for use on Pesach is to track the quinoa from certain farms that are free from the above concern. The Star-K spearheaded this endeavor and sent a mashgiach to find such a farm. While they were successful in their search, it proved to be challenging from a practical point of view, as the company visited generally sells their products in large quantities. The Star-K has now worked with other companies to pack the usable quinoa into smaller packages, and the following three options have been approved for Pesach quinoa consumption:

It is important to note that even the quinoa from the above approved sources should be carefully checked before Pesach for any foreign matter before use. This can be done by spreading the quinoa out on a plate and carefully checking there are no other grains or foreign matter mixed in.
The cRc would like to thank Rabbi Zvi Goldberg of the Star-K and Rabbi Reuven Nathanson of the OU for their help on researching this issue.
Manhattan restaurant
Oh, I totally understand. I don't know if I would put them on the same level though at all - maybe the menu sounds creative, but the execution leaves much to be desired.
Manhattan restaurant
I've been unimpressed with Prime KO - they didn't really give me what I ordered the first time (wagyu burger, though I don't even see that on their current menu) and I really didn't like the bowtie pasta I ordered the second time around.
Pardes and Prime KO don't compare in my opinion, even on creativity.
Manhattan restaurant
What Gila said. I don't think anything compares to Pardes, but I'd certainly like to see more of those around.

Oh, it is. I make the trek from Riverdale when I go. ;)
Riverdale Suggestions?
The Candy Box is a great little gem in this neck of the woods.
And their PB froyo (milchig) is awesome.
Reviews of Passover Hotel Programs?
Looks like they do a tour in different places every year: http://www.pesachtime.com/Photos_Videos.html
Riverdale Suggestions?
Carlos and Gabby's is one of the larger places in Riverdale for seating. Seems like you went during peak time, though, and that's expected of a popular eatery in these parts.
Riverdale Suggestions?
I second Judean Hills as a kid friendly place, though it's not the best pizza joint in the neighborhood.
Also, in case you want more eateries to add to the Riverdale list, I can say that I got takeout from Corner Grill tonight - I hear it's small though so I'm not sure about accommodations, and there's also Two Cousins Burger on W 231. The portion sizes at Two Cousins Burger used to be much bigger but the food is good. I wasn't too thrilled with my takeout from Corner Grill though since their schwarma with salad and fries doesn't really come with fries (the guy on the phone tonight told us after we inquired about that portion that "it may come with 1 or 2 fries on top") and I ordered falafel with hot sauce but barely got any type of sauces (chummus or tehina), let alone hot sauce... they said they were sorry for the inconvenience and may give me a dessert or something next time, but that's a real bummer. Also, the wait was 45 minutes so we got 5 cookies to make up for it. Therefore, that may not be the best place for hungry children.

Carlos and Gabby's is kid friendly, as is Cafeccino Bakery on W 231st Street (Cafeccino is by far my favorite pizza place in the northeast--they have other food there too). There isn't much eating room at Cafeccino but it's worth the visit - just be sure to call in advance and find out about dinner as sometimes they close early.
Corner Cafe is also a nice place and they recently relocated to Riverdale Avenue since they just opened a sister shop, Corner Grill, next door (I haven't been there yet). If you have kids under 2, just note that Corner Cafe does NOT have boosters or highchairs so you should bring your own.
Riverdelight and Ginger Grill, respectively on Johnson Avenue and Riverdale Avenue, are also relatively nice - little more 'upscale' but still fine for kids.
Pardes Tasting Menu is EXCELLENT
Not exactly. Their menu changes a lot.
They have a Facebook page and you can see updates (new additions, and an older menu) here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Pardes-Restaurant/123190514395537
Elite Dimensions Passover Tour in Orlando, FL
"We just wanted to sit in the sunshine, swim in the pool, read our books, and relax. And then for mealtimes, we wanted a plentiful supply of kosher for Passover food that we didn't have to prepare and serve. I know that doesn't sound very spiritual, but that is exactly where our heads were at the time."
Don't sweat it. I think a lot of families go on Passover tours for that very reason.
Great American Health Bar Veggie Burger
I don't think I've ever had it :) But now that you've convinced me, I'll have to check it out the next time I go down there.

You sure you don't mean Broadway Cafe and Health Bar on 160 Broadway? I'm pretty sure it hasn't changed names either. I don't think there was ever a Great American Health Bar down there.

Are you sure you're talking about a Great American Health Bar on Broadway? I'm pretty sure it hasn't moved; it's located on W 57th between 5th and 6th.
