Any ideas of caterers in Ft. Lauderdale for a holiday party of 60 at a home?

Hugh's Catering has always been terrific. Located in Fort Lauderdale.

Ft. Lauderdale--Help me decide?!!!

It's very casual but has a good breakfast, great Fort Lauderdale atmosphere and is within walking distance for you -- good ol' Bahia Cabana.

Fresh Market

Is this old news on Chowhound? Fresh Market is coming to fort Lauderdale, corner of Federal and 4th Street. I can't wait.

Best Pizza in South Florida

In Fort Lauderdale on South Andrews is a newish place called Pie-Zan's, been open 10 months. It's owned by two guys, one from Chicago and one from New York, and they use family recipes. Excellent thin crust NY style pizza, 2 good-sized slices and a soda for $5. Terrific meatballs too! Absolutely everything is from scratch. All toppings are sauteed before they're put on the pie, which in my book makes them much better.

Creolina's Take Out - Davie

I heard about a month ago that they were closed, no idea why. :-(

Fort Lauderdale visitors need help

I second Candela, and throw in El Tamarindo on St Rd 84 for Latin American food. And not that Candela is pricey, but El Tamarindo is even less so.

There is a very good deli in Davie/Plantation on University a little south of 595 called Tower Deli. The best Nova you have ever had!

Chef's Palette Fort Lauderdale

I'm curious too, has anyone been there recently?

Broward-Italian Bound

I haven't been in a while but Gianni's on Atlantic has been very good, nice but casual atmosphere. Great garlic rolls! I am looking forward to trying Kitchenetta, have met several people recently who rave about it. It's in Fort Laud on US1, north of Sunrise Blvd. More casual is Franco and Vinnie's Pizza Shack on Sunrise just east of the Intracoastal bridge. Great pizza and very good Italian food, been there for ages. Cozy atmosphere.

Organic restaurants (or those with humanely grown food)

Sublime in Fort Lauderdale on US1 near Oakland Park is very good upscale mostly (all?) vegan food. Beautiful setting too. I haven't been there in a long time but when I did go it was very good.

Best garlic rolls & Caesar salad - Fort Laud area?

Any input on especially good Caesar salad and/or garlic rolls in Fort Laud. or within 10 miles? Many years ago there was an Italian restaurant in Fort Laud called Americo's with amazing little garlic knots. I still crave them. And I haven't found a stellar Caesar dressing. Help?

Visit to Grandma in Ft Lauderdale: How do I make this amazing?

El Tamarindo on east SR 84 in Fort Lauderdale. Great food, service, and price in a very nice atmosphere. It's Latin American, so there's your ethnic! :-)

Tonight we are trying Cafe Sharaku for the first time, Asian/French fusion. It might be a good choice for your romantic dinner, not sure. I've heard Valentino's on US1 near Davie Blvd. is a nice romantic place with excellent food.

South Florida's Historical Foodie Institutions

I'm feeling too lazy to research the details (sorry) but I'll throw out The Floridian on Las Olas, Southport Raw Bar on Cordova off of 17th Street Causeway, and Ernie's on US1 (all in Fort Lauderdale).

Sunday night foodie delight in Fort Lauderdale?

El Tamarindo on SR 84. Latin American, great food and service, great prices, very nice atmosphere and kid friendly!

Bamboo Noah's in Plantation - a gem

I had lunch today at Bamboo Noah's on Pine island Road just north of 595 -- it's in a tiny strip center on the west side of the road. The place is quite new, and what a find! Innovative menu, fresh food, quality ingredients, very friendly service. Everything we had was delicious -- chicken chili, a fabulous skirt steak wrap with Asian slaw, amazing carrot ginger soup and hummus. And good prices too! It's easy to see why they've already established a loyal following. Can't wait to go back, there are so many things on the menu that sounds tempting!

Galuppi's in Pompano

I've heard some really good things; has anyone been there? I'm wondering about what sort of atmosphere it has. Thanks.

Fort Lauderdale Recs: Near Airport or Sawgrass

El Tamarindo Cafe on State Road 84, Latin American -- great food, great prices, nice atmosphere, great service. For Caribbean-type: Bimini Boatyard on 17th St. Causeway is less than 10 minutes further away.

SoFla Thanksgiving and Fruit Pies

Bob Roth's New River Groves on Griffin Road in Davie, a little west of the Turnpike I think. Very good Thanksgiving pies (and key lime too)

Good Italian in West Broward?

Capriccio's at University and Sheridan. Always a treat.

Loved this little place

I've edited it now, thanks. The address also automatically shows in the link (which I did not know was there!)

Loved this little place

We tried Le Petit Cafe de Dania on Griffin Road in Dania (Fort Laud) last night after wondering about it for many years. What a little gem -- great menu choices, delicious food, lovely friendly service, quaint and charming atmosphere. Family-owned and it shows. We will definitely be back...soon!!

CANDELA - Latin & Mediterranean Restaurant, Fort Lauderdale

We tried it last night based on your recommendation. I almost hate to post this because it'll bring more people in and the place is so small to start with....Armando was in the open kitchen talking to patrons as he cooked up his delicious treats -- a starter of chorizo and potato in a wonderufl light sauce with a yummy wedge of bread for sopping it all up...fried yucca with several side-sauces, terrific! We had slow roasted pork with onions and cilantro that was a huge portion and delicious, and a palomilla steak which was not the traditional style as expected but was tender and delicious. And enormous. Very good prices, and we brought our own wine sine it's BYOB. Love the warm friendly atmosphere; we will be back soon, with friends! By the way, they're working on expanding to the empty place next door.

Romantic resturants in Broward/Dade county?

I agree about Eduardo de San Angel. It's special. Romantic but not stuffy. Warm, beautiful and comfortable, great food. It's a winner!

Mustard Seed Cafe - Davie

I had a very good salad there for's definitely a "ladies who lunch" type of place, and there was a wait of about 10 or 15 minutes. Must try it for dinner!

Best Burger in the Davie/Hollywood/Ft. Lauderdale Area

Flanigan's is great but really it's the same thing as Quarterdeck. Billy's Tavern on SR 84 between University and Pine Island is great; Geronimo's on Univ. in Davie is too. And, surprisingly, GameWorks at Sawgrass has a terrific burger.

Good Indian betw. West Palm & Ft. Lauderdale?

India House in Plantation on University has to-die-for naan bread and dal makhani (black dal). My friend swears by Bombay Cafe on North Andrews near Oakland Park Blvd. but I haven't been there. It's on my to-do list!
