Barq's Red Creme Soda
If you feel like taking a drive, about an hour NW of Baltimore in Blue Ridge Summit, PA they sell it in K-Mart. My friend gets it up there.

I onions in the petals have a fabulous natural sweetness that is to die for. Try the berry milkshake. The black abd blue berry flavor throughout and at the end is wonderful.
Also, the Blazin' Barn is pretty sweet with the pickled daikon and other veggies on there.
Is Oyamel good?
Has anyone dined at Oyamel? Got a big date this weekend and I want to make sure it is worth it.
Are the grasshoppers actually tasty in the taco setting or is it a waste of time?

I think the point is that places like fast food joints cant be as creative or put too much time and care into their product because they have to distribute in huge quanties. Sure it can be an enjoyable product (I fancy White Castle myself), but it is the same no matter where you go. No surprise, no wow, no bang.
It's good because they are cheap and you know what to expect, just like putting on an old pair of shoes.
Dinner in DC
I can recommend Bistro D'Oc near the Ford Theater. The foie gras mousse with brioche and the sauteed lamb brains were very tasty.
The cassoulet was so hearty and warming that I could've laid on the ground and taken a nap afterwards.

Amen to that. I had a "pot roast" burger at Red Robin and all the gristle was still hanging there like an afterthought.
Just gross.

I guess I'll have to try it out. A number of people referred to that place on here.

Has anyone mentioned Good Stuff Eatery in Capitol Hill? I think this place is divine, and the Toasted Marshmellow shake is wonderful.
All of their burgers are scrumptious, especially the Prez Obama burger with that sweet red onion marmalade.

Raw Beef?
If you are looking for a unique and tasty dining experience, visit Abay Market in Falls Church, VA.
They serve Ethiopian fare in this butchery/bar/restaurant. The owner of the establishment is very cordial and will talk to you about the dishes you order once they are brought out.
During a recent visit he talked to me and my friend about the home-made cheese provided to accompany our fried lamb dish. It was very mild and had a texture like cottage cheese.
The item that makes this place stand out is their tera sega. I found that this is a dish eaten in Ethiopia where cuts of raw beef are cubed or served whole for the diner to cut. They come with either powdered berbere, or a berbere mixture made into a sauce for dipping. The beef is so fresh and the yellow fat adds a nice crunch to the soft, chewy texture of the beef.
If you are looking for a different take on a tartare, check this place out. They also serve it chopped for a more familiar look.
