Is Del Posto appropriate for children?

I'd really like to try Del Posto and I will be in the city with my kids from the 26-29th. Would the $39/pp lunch be appropriate for them? I looked at the menu and they would certainly be able to eat the food but will people frown upon my kids? They're 10 and 11 and very, very well mannered.

Molecular Gastronomy for kids

Thanks for your quick response! When I said show, I wasn't expecting anything more than maybe a dessert or something where the use of MG is apparent. It doesn't even have to be a whole meal. I was thinking no more than $50/pp so maybe just a course or a dessert and not a whole meal.

My son is 11 and he thinks molecular gastronomy is cool. Me, I'm not so easily impressed but I was wondering if there were any restaurants I could take him to to see some in action that are still accessible for an 11 year old. (He's a good eater, eats seafood, sushi, vegetables, etc...)

I honestly have no idea where to begin since it's not really something I'm into but we'll be in the city from December 26-29th so I thought it would be cool for him. Lunch or dinner.

Saturday Birthday Dinner for teens in Brooklyn

Hey again, I'm thinking of Saturday lunch. If you could hit up only one of the trendy artisan pizza places in Brooklyn, which would it be...I'm thinking Roberta's, Lucali's, Franny's, Sottocasa and the like. I'm sure I'm missing something so feel free to make a different suggestion.

And thanks so much for the suggestions so far!

Has anyone been to Calyer? I searched the board but there is little said about it and I really like the menu.

I'd say $30 pp, excluding drinks. And have no fear, I do not plan on driving my children around Brooklyn drunk, my husband does not drink. Ever. At all. So we're set there.

I love Frankie's but we ate there on our last visit. Char No. 4 sounds good, kind of refined Southern?

Thanks and I read many, many threads but I thought I would explain what I was looking for and ask for more personal recommendations.

Colonie sounds a little pretentious based on what I've read here and also on Yelp. I care about service and consider it an important part of a nicer dining experience.

Saturday Birthday Dinner for teens in Brooklyn

Hi, I'm coming to Brooklyn for the weekend with my kids to celebrate their 18th and 11th birthdays. I'm born and raised there but have lived in Saratoga for the last 7 years and I only get back once or twice a year so I am a little out of touch.

My kids are adventurous and not picky. My daughter loves BBQ, southern, soul, asian, Mexican, etc.
We visited a month ago and had a fun, fantastic meal at Buttermilk Channel.

We're staying downtown Brooklyn and have a car so travel is not an issue.

Thoughts on a fun restaurant with good food and a great cocktail list? And by fun, I don't mean balloon animals and cotton candy but a place where we can have a few courses, a couple of cocktails and appease both kids and adults?

When I did live in Brooklyn, Applewood and Al Di La were my favorite restaurants. You can check out my Wanna Go list for places that I find appealing.

He's asking about Bay Ridge. L&B is not in Bay Ridge, it's in Bensonhurst.

Salted Caramel Frosting

People who rate a recipe that they HAVEN'T MADE one star drive me batty. As a matter of a fact, reviews where the reviewer states they have not made the recipe should be deleted. If you haven't made the recipe, why does your input matter?

I HAVE made this recipe and I think it turns out great. The caramel has to cool down completely before you use it or you will have soupy frosting. That's perhaps the most important thing to note about this recipe. Cook your caramel until it's quite dark but not burnt, it gives a lovely deep caramel flavor to the frosting.

Jackson Heights foodie tour

Awesome, thanks!

I had searched the board but I was searching for Jackson Heights and a lot of the stuff was old. Roosevelt Ave is much better...but now I am overwhelmed!

Jackson Heights foodie tour

I will be heading to the city this weekend and staying in Jackson Heights. I was born and raised in Brooklyn but I know nothing about Queens.

I will be bringing my boyfriend (born and raised in upstate NY) and 2 adventurous kids.
.
Last time we went to the city I took him on a LES foodie tour. I'd like to do one of Queens, concentrating on Jackson Heights since that's where we will be staying.

We are not scared of food carts, love sweets, and adore Mexican.

I'm not really interested in Indian.

I've heard of Pio Pio and will do that for one big group dinner.

Any other ideas?
We are heading to the city to do museums on Saturday, is there a good neighborhood place to get breakfast that morning? No trendy brunch spots, breakfast.
