Where can I buy good cheese blintzes in the NYC/ NJ area for Shavuot? Pomegranate |

TJ's house brand. It's ok, but nothing spectacular. Then again I have no basis for comparison. TJ's basil flavored olive oil is, however, very tasty. |

I have a bottle of black truffle- flavored oil from Trader Joe's, OU certified. It was a Chanukah gift, so it might have been a seasonal item. I haven't been to TJ's in awhile so I don't know if they currently stock it. |

Martin's Potato Rolls / Sliders Don't know about Martin's, but Pomegranate carries their house brand slider rolls. |

Best kosher options in Las Vegas Just got back from Vegas. Panini Cafe was great, and one of the few dairy options. But it's about 20 minutes from the strip so not very convenient if that's where you're staying. Jerusalem Grill is about 5 minutes off the strip and the food is very tasty, especially liked the baby chicken and tabouleh salad. Agree with jrfigo about Sababa -- delicious, but a bit out of the way. |

Also good is Whole Foods' brand dark chocolate chunks -- 70% cacao, and pareve as well. Yum! |

Need updated info on Lake George We stayed last summer at the Wingate. Clean rooms, 5 minute drive to the minyan and close to the lake, attractions, etc. They also had a breakfast with a lot of kosher packaged items. Last summer there wasn't much kosher food in Lake George aside from a few shelves at the mini-Chopper. Maybe that's since changed? Here's a link with info on kosher food in the area: |

We just got back from a weekend in Long Branch. We didn't eat at that many restaurants -- went to Slices for pizza, which was fine. Also had lunch at Ice Cafe on Norwood, and I thought the food was really good, pretty tasty with a good selection on the menu. The service was pretty quick, and they were very accomodating to our party of 4 adults and 2 little kids. As far as hotels -- we stayed at Cedars and Beeches, which I have mixed feelings about. It's a beautiful B&B, the rooms were nice and clean and the beds comfortable. There's a fridge and space to put food you bring, and they offer a pretty decent packaged kosher breakfast upon request. It's within walking distance to several shuls if you'll be there on Shabbos, and we had lovely Shabbos meals on the big porch. But the staff is not so warm -- a bit distant and cold, and in some cases flat-out unfriendly. Not what you'd expect from a B&B. Also, if you're coming with kids, it's not the kid-frienliest place int he world. Lots of breakable tchotchkes around the house, and they don't seem to have a very high tolerance for normal toddler noisiness. Which is understandable, except their website advertises the place as kid-friendly. It's more along the lines of kid-tolerant. |

Have you traveled to or thru Bangor, Maine? For what it's worth, I stayed at the Shore Path Cottage several years ago and had a fabulous time. Granted, it was back in 2005, but I remember the food being yummy and getting up from the breakfast table feeling pretty full. And I'm almost positive that they don't wait for everyone to be seated to start cooking (I certainly wasn't the first to make it downstairs, and there was already food on the table). Roberta (the owner) was so gracious and accomodating, and I would absolutely recommend the place. Can't compare it to other kosher B&Bs, though, and things might have changed since I was there. I guess it depends what kind of experience you're looking for. The non-locking rooms were not an issue for me, and I don't remember the place being particularly noisy. Overall, if you want something homey and warm it's a really sweet place to stay. |
