yeah- thats what i am having a hard time with! frankie's was minimum 2,000 food and beverage and i think it would end up much more...i think we wont be able to do byob at this point unless we do middle eastern two nights, like olive cafe in park slope....very frustrating!

Aurora, vinegar hill, convivum, petit crevette - wedding dinner for 30?

We've lived in Carroll Gardens for four years and its actually been really tough to try to find a restaurant for our wedding party. Most of the restaurants we love, are either too small or dont take reservations. Would love to do a byob, but we are leaning away from middle eastern food since we'll probably do that at the wedding.

Any ideas for places that can accommodate a group of around 30 for about $40 a person for food only?

Momofuku Ko - where does it go from here?

I just got reservations for this upcoming Monday - anything you would recommend to make the experience better? did you get the wine pairing, if so, which one? its quite a splurge for us so anything you think would make us enjoy ourselves more (aside from the food) would be great!

dinner near Bell House/Smith and 9 stop

Going to a show at the Bell House and hoping to eat as close to it and or the subway stop (mostly because of the rain and that i haven't explored this side of carroll gardens much). anything good past 4th place?

Momofuku Ko - reservation road detour

i dont know, i have tried every tuesday at 10:00 am (well, I sign in at 9:50 am) for over 2 months and have never gotten lucky. a couple of times i've seen the mythical green checks (for open) but when i click, they are already gone....so sad.

Anyone been to The Grocery on Smith?

Frankie's food is really great, but yes, recently the waits have been up to 2 1/2 hours, whereas a year or two ago that was unheard of. You are also the first person to feel the same way about the staff as I do. Even after going once or twice a month at least for 2 years, they were always cold and offputting. Prime meats is my new go to place, staff is amazing.

I couldnt agree more with you about chestnut - was shocked after trying it out after all the reviews. All in all though, i think there's great food in carroll gardens.

STK, Minetta Tavern, or Del Frisco?

I thought STK was awful too - but I have been trying to get reservations at minetta for a month (and nothing before 6:15 has ever been open) so I think you guys might have a really hard time getting a seat, even at the bar (from what I've heard)

Anyone been to The Grocery on Smith?

it's quite small and cozy (so not sure how intimate vs loud your party wants to be). I didn't love it, but my partner did and to their credit, even the chef came out because she noticed i didnt eat much of my meal - but it was totally an issue of me not ordering the right thing. I think generally i have heard the food is excellent so it depends what ambiance you want. there are so many fun places on smith for after dinner that i'm sure you'll have a great time.

Experiences with Abigail Kirsch or recommendations for other large event caterers?

We've used Canard before and thought they were excellent, a pleasure to work with (the event was for 400). also cleaver co - delicious, sustainable/locally sourced.

Allen and Delancey recently?

ugh, I am sooo sorry. That just adds insult to injury. not sure if you ever head to brooklyn but prime meats is not only delicious but they have the nicest most unpretentious bartenders and servers (which really surprised me). I mean, soo nice.

Best Nachos in Brooklyn?

there is a bar on 6th avenue in park slope (sort of not around anything else, with green picnic tables outside) that has amazing nachos. if you get out on the 4th avenue stop, go up 9th and then a left on 6th avenue and it will be on your left.

Allen and Delancey recently?

hi, just went there recently and I am sad to say I was so disappointed. Everything we had fell flat and for the price, it just wasn't worth it. The bar up front was packed but few diners in the dining room. I had one of the best meals here under AF, but I have to say I will not be going back. I did have a great meal at sorella, but its not the same ambiance or look (and mostly small plates, small menu) but delicious. or frankie's, much cheaper but more casual.

Also not in les, but have you considered Commerce?

Looking for a tasty lunch spot near 23rd and Sixth

there really is a dearth of options in the area...slim pickings - but if you can overlook the cheesy sport bar aspect, Rogue actually has some pretty good lunch items, chopped salads, great sandwiches, etc. and has outside seating. def. super casual and again, you have to be ok with the setting. but you can get in and out in 45 minutes.

1 Night + 1 Day in Bangkok

We are staying at the narai hotel, silom road. We are definitely not looking for stuffy/high end but need a place that they can feel is authentic, yet "safe" as this is a younger, not well-traveled group. Also one that takes reservations - but I definitely want them to be relaxed, have fun, be able to be loud, etc. I really appreciate your help on this!
Not sure if you know phuket as well but we are staying at the baan krating (20 minute car ride from phuket town). any restaurants here? have you been to watermark? too stuffy? joe's downstairs?
thanks soooo much!

Any place to find Porky Land corn tortillas in NYC?

My mom flew in with 3 kilos from San Diego last week. I promptly froze them to extend their life and the next morning I found the freezer door open....so now I have to replenish my supply. They are truly the best corn tortillas this side of mexico. I know i can order them online but would prefer to find a place locally where I could stock up.

Thanks!

The Wing Bar on Smith St.

you know, the back garden is always empty, which to me is the biggest draw, but you're right the front is full. I still have not tried to food but the garden is just so relaxing. No kids, no music, no scene, no crowds - just a nice back yard garden.

The Wing Bar on Smith St.

we went last night too, and although did not try the food I thought it was a great place - really nice outdoor area, super friendly servers and bartenders and beer prices were really reasonable. We usually go to pj hanleys for outdoor area but really loved the space here.

Best meal of your life (in Florence) recommendations

Hi - first time poster. I realize that it is best to check around for past posts etc. to avoid being repetitive, but I have been doing so and still am unsure about an upcoming florence trip. I am looking for one tear inducing (joy) experience in Florence. Whether that be about specific plates or the entire dining experience. Basically if you had one meal that you still dream about or could only go to one restaurant in Florence, i'd love to hear about it.
