Toronto Monday Anniversary Mid-town $$$

Ooh, that sounds great -- thank you rabbit! Will have to try for sure.

Have decided on Sotto Sotto on Avenue Rd. for this anniversary 'tho (not the new one in Forest Hill Village, as they are doing Summerlicious). However, I appreciate all the suggestions and it is very useful to know of some great restaurants open Monday evening -- in case anyone else cares North 44 is also open.

Scaramouche -- an oldie but a goodie -- thanks, foodiegirl !! Yeah, I was interested in trying Vertical, but alas they too are on the Summerlicious bandwagon. They will allow you to order from the regular menu, but what's the point if the whole kitchen is geared up to cater to the Summerlicious hoards. It means the wait staff will be rushing to get everyone in and out, and the kitchen will be working furiously and paying less attention to individual meals. Great for a cheap and cheerful night out, but not romantic or special. :(

No worries. I don't either (normally) -- but googling the restaurants shows their Summerlicious menus on their websites...

Provence Delices, Cabbagetown?

Good, bad, indifferent?

Thanks, Helen, for the recommendation. Mezza Misto looks cosy, and they have a big menu.

Thanks, Pate! Both Zucca and Quince are doing Summerlicious, so not this time -- but they look great and I will check them out for dinner soon.

Any suggestions for a mid-town Toronto restaurant open Monday evening, suitable for an Anniversary romantic dinner?

First 4 years we went to Celestin on Mt. Pleasant and it was always a treat. 5th year we returned, only to be disappointed because they were participating in Summerlicious.

Summerlicious is great concept, but not for a romantic dinner.

6th anniversary we tried the Jamie Kennedy restaurant downtown. It was a Sunday evening and we were coming back from the cottage and weren't sure what time we would be arriving and they don't take reservations so it worked in our favour. Food was very pleasing, I must say.

So here we are coming up to our 7th anniversary. We would like to find something mid-town. A great restaurant that is NOT participating in Summerlicious. Open Monday evenings. Romantic. Moderate-Expensive.

It would be great if the menu was international rather than being limited to a specific nationality, but if we have to choose -- then French would be a good choice. Have any favourites you would like to recommend? thanks!
