Kosher at New Yankee Stadium and Citi Field
When I refer to the days of bringing my own food I am referring to the time when there was no kosher food at the ballpark. The Kosher food stands are a tremendous albeit expensive convenience and I have always tried to support them. However, the folks Yankee stadium do such an awful job and are clearly doing the bare minmum so as to maximize their profit margin that I refuse to be taken advantage of. I have also tried the fare at Citi Field and am very impressed. THEY got it right. Good food, friendly service (try the sausage with peppers and onions-its awesome)
Kosher at New Yankee Stadium and Citi Field
I have been to the New Yankee Stadium twice and I am very disapointed with the food. The old stadium used "Strictly Kosher" run and operated by Jeff Strict. The fare was simple was good and they always had what was on the menu. The new place has subpar hotdogs and if you ask for saurkraut they put some on like its a rare substance. The hamburgers are a joke and the stands i visited did not have the shawarma or falafel. I tried a deli sandwich which was perhaps the WORST i have ever had. it came with an israeli pickle and once packet of yellow mustard. This is just awful and I can't believe the Yankees are allowing this. I have been a huge fan of kosher food at ballparks and supported the Strictly Kosher stand at the olds stadium even though the prices are high becuase they had good food and friendly service. The new place is a disaster.
I have heard that the food at Citifield is much better and am looking forward to trying it out for myself. I liked the kosher food at Shea even though the cooking surface was right next to a mamash treif food stand. I hear that the new place in Citifield is a real venue and not a cart like Yanke stadium. I am planning on boycotting the stands at Yankee stadium until they either get their act together or leave. I will bring food like I used to do which by the way the Yankees have no problem with.
