Visiting Pacific Beach - Need Grandmother friendly restaurant for night out w/o kids
We are on vacation in San Diego (Pacific Beach) and have a babysitter later this week so the grown ups can go to dinner. Can anyone recommend something that isn't too scene-y and loud (so G'ma can be part of the conversation), and has good food? We don't want to go too far from our rental as the kids will be with someone unfamiliar in an unfamiliar house.
Thanks!
What's New NY? West Village hotspots
Fantastic info...thanks! Little Owl opened on our block just after we left. I'm dying to try it as it would likely have been a staple if we'd stayed. The others are not familiar to me, with the exception of August, so I'm glad to have new places to try.
What is currently next to Cherry Lane Theater? I remember something new-ish but didn't know if it would last.
Other ideas are welcome!

We moved away from NYC (to Cali) three years ago. We'll be back for a week soon and hoped to get a quick update on what's new in the West Village. Where would you go (old or new) for a nice dinner? family brunch? leisurely lunch? We have many fond memories and will hit old favorites, but would also like to experience something new.
Labor Day Weekend in Marina (w/toddler)
Quick update on last night's dinner: We ended up at Naked Fish Sushi on Chestnut. We took a long walk before dinner so didn't arrive until around 7:30. It was a fantastic experience. They put us at a booth in the hallway (apologizing for the location but it was perfect and secluded with a toddler). The service was great, they brought tofu chunks, edamame and rice out immediately for Josie, Our sushi was quick to follow and we thoroughly enjoyed almost everything we ordered. The combos were unique (mango, macademia nuts, excellent spicy tuna, etc.) and tasty! The Tempura Roll was out of this world. Less successful was the Mango Tango (or something), which had a cloyingly sticky sweet sauce.
One of the best things was how attentive they were to clearing used dishes...keeping the table free of possible projectiles.
All in all, a good experience. I'm hoping to get some replies from all of you about other places to venture tonight and tomorrow.
Thanks!
Labor Day Weekend in Marina (w/toddler)
My mom and sister flew into SFO this morning, and I drove up from the Central Coast to meet them for a weekend in SF. They want to spend time with my daughter (15 mo.). We're in a hotel in the Marina area. Can anyone suggest places to go that will appeal to our foodie nature, but also be appropriate to take a toddler (we are willing to dine very early)?
Also, are there any good markets to buy interesting foods to have on hand in the hotel?
Finally, what is the delivery scene like in SF? Can we order good food into the hotel easily (we'd prefer to go out for the ambiance factor but this may be necessary one of the three nights)?
Thanks!
Jennifer

My husband and I moved from the West Village to California two years ago. This summer we finally have the opportunity to come back to NY, with our 14 month old along for the ride. Eating out in NY with a toddler is unfamiliar territory for us. We welcome suggestions about restaurants that we could take our daughter to, particularly ones that would capture the fun and glamorous lives we think we remember. So far the only thing I can think of is Shake Shack! Any other ideas? Could we go to places like Spotted Pig, SushiSamba, Pastis, Ino, if we went early in the evening (6 ish)? Thanks Hounds for the help!
