South of France Itinerary Restaurant Recommendations

I can't seem to find Jen's ranking, but this is how I ranked the restaurants after the trip:

1. Mirazur
2. Bras
3. Auberge de la Mole
4. Le Parc Franck Putelat
5. Edouard Loubet - Bastide de Capelongue
6. Le Tracteur
7. La Petite Maison de Cucuron
8. Le Petit Nice Passedat
9. Le Louis XV
10. La Fourchette
11. Le Bistrot de la Marine
12. Le Jardin du Quai
13. Bacon
14. La Table du Chef
15. La Merenda
16. Le Saint-Estève
17. L'Atelier de Jean-Luc Rabanel

The only restaurant I didn't like was L'Atelier de Jean-Luc Rabanel. Everything else was good to great. My two cents on places you just shouldn't miss would be Mirazur, Bras and Auberge de la Mole.

Need one more dinner for our trip

We are getting married at city hall and going to saison for dinner afterwards. Thanks for ruining our wedding.

Need one more dinner for our trip

We have the following 5 dinners planned:

State bird provisions
Saison
Crenn
Benu

Then we seem to be leaning towards Kokkari over Aziza.

Just in case we die on this trip, I want to make sure we get our meals in order, what wold you change. ..

Best wording to offer chef services as a gift to bride & groom

That's weird. Just pay for the food or don't offer the gift. Also is this gift for you, seems self absorbing...

Please review my itinerary - lunch

We will be there Wednesday through Monday. Thanks, my fiancé has been pushing me to drop MCF. I guess it's dropped now.

Please review my itinerary - lunch

We'll be in SF Labor Day weekend and have the following lunches planned. Let me know what you would change...

Bar Tartine
Swan Oyster Depot
SPQR
Roli Roti
Mission Chinese Food

L’atelier de Jean-Luc Rabanel or chezbru le bistrot d’eygalières?

Thanks girlfriend, much props for your reply. I do have to say Jean-Luc Rabanel appears to have the most potential to be off the chain. He has 2 Michelin stars, so gives him much street cred. I think we'll go there. Thanks again.

L’atelier de Jean-Luc Rabanel or chezbru le bistrot d’eygalières?

We have been doing a bunch of research for our trip and we are divided between L’atelier de Jean-Luc Rabanel or chezbru le bistrot d’eygalières while in the area of Arles. Has anybody been recently that could offer some insight, we just care about the food. Lack of service, length of meal, etc isn't our concern. I was also curious as to why chezbru lost its 2nd Michelin star. Thanks in advance and I've already searched the board, so thanks to OaklandBob & famboc for your post.

The problem with Chowhound

You miss the point, I'm asking what you think is the best food, once I get a few replies I can do more research and narrow from there.

How does any publication write about the best restaurants in an area. Do they know about all their readers preferences/parameters. No they just write. CHers should follow suit.

Your comment doesn't add much value, you should post more on CH.

The problem with Chowhound

The must visits in any city should be a given. It should be the first thing that appears when i go to a city board. And when i ask a question about must visits I'm constantly met with stupidity.

8 replies so far and 1 recommendation. You are not an expert if you cant answer a question. This is one of the downfall of this website.

When I ask a question on CH , the local "experts" always say read the previous posts first. Although the other posts have different restrictions on their posts. CHers should just answer the questions being asked and leave their egos at he door.

Also, dont waste my time telling me to read every past posts on a city, just summarize it or me.

South of France Itinerary Restaurant Recommendations

That's a good question Parigi, I wish Jen_l would reply. I take it as..who cares about my preferences, what are the best food places that you would put on every agenda if you didn't know their preference. The Eater 38 is a good reference point. I'm from Los Angeles and when I look at the Eater 38, in general those are places I would recommend to anybody coming to LA...Langer's, In-n-Out, Spago, Trois Mec. So Parigi, what's your South of France Eater 38,

Best Wineries in Sonoma County

I have a follow-up question on my quest to taste the most reputable wines in Sonoma. I left a message at Audelssa for a tasting and when I received a call back, it was Repris Wines. She said they bought Audelssa a few years back. Does anybody know what the current relationship is between the two brands and what is the current reputation of Repris wines? They seem to do barrel tastings and a couple bottle tastings. My petunia and I did barrel tasting in Napa and I wasn't a fan.

Best Wineries in Sonoma County

Cool, this place is right up my alley, but unfortunately it's in Napa.

Best Wineries in Sonoma County

Normally, I would agree with you. But, I'm taking my petunia on this trip and she deserves nothing but the best. We can go to a winery that has one or two wines that are below 90, but I'll ask that these wines be removed from the tasting.

Maybe in the future, publications will hire 4 part-time critics (a panel) and do away with one full-time critic. The reality is all products get reviewed in life, whether vacuums or steaks. We don't always agree with reviews, but it can steer us in the right direction.

Also, let me know if any of the wineries I suggested in my OP received an 89 or worse. I've never gotten a B in my life, I would expect the same from the wineries I visit.

Best Wineries in Sonoma County

Noted, that's something I learned from this post. I'll adjust my expectations accordingly and try something limited at the restaurants.

Best Wineries in Sonoma County

Thanks to everybody, you were all very helpful. I feel like I have a good list and I will make a few more adjustments and narrow the list to account for driving time and include ones that are close to each other. I will let you know my thought after the trip.

Best Wineries in Sonoma County

Yes, it's sarcasm. But I did look at the Meadowood wine list to see what producers they liked in Sonoma.

CW218,

I never associated Ridge (CHer) with the winery. I wouldn't think winery representatives would be on this website, but now that you bring it up, they could lure people to their wineries that way, kind of makes sense. I chose Ridge because it was well regarded by a decent amount of people.
