That could also depend on how the ballots were made available. Was it an online vote and free-for-all or was it Zagat style mail-in ballots for subscribers/ purchasers only?
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but New York (the "Manhattan version of Westchester Magazine," if you will) magazine's editor's and people's choice picks seem to have credibility to it, why can't they do the same at Westchester magazine?
I guess I won't bother looking for this magazine when (and if) it comes in the mail...

East/ West Village/Chelsea Recommendation
We always take our vegetarian friends to I Sodi. I second your recommendation.
The fried artichoke, the vegetarian pasta options, especially the risotto with a hint of nutmeg, as well as the artichoke lasagne..the list goes on..... cocktails are also superb!

The Cookery in Dobbs Ferry
We had dinner here while staying in Westchester last fall. We are happy to report that we had dinner here again a few nights ago and the food was just as spectacular as we had remembered it. The gnocchi is just as wonderful as our favorite neighborhood Italian restaurant in the West Village.

I second Blue Hill and Red Hat Bistro. While the food at Chiboust was not bad, we could've done without the attitude - the food isn't worth the 'tude. We also tried Sweetgrass -- it was good,but nothing extraordinay - especially if you are coming from the city.
Intimate Wedding ceremony and reception venue
We recently attended a lovely reception at City Hall. The food was great and I can't imagine it being terribly expensive.

Kyotofu is pretty interesting and unique if your are up for desserts with an Asian flair. Their chocolate cupcakes are outstanding.

yeah their buttercream icing is great. the peanut butter sandwich cookie is unbelievable, havent had their other sandwich cookies. that being said, i am NOT a fan of rainbow cookies, never have been and I dont think i ever will. Perhaps I have been tainted as a child forced to eat such stuff during passover.

Citron Bistro
The best part of the meal was the complimetary pate that comes with toasted points. Other than that, O.K., but not outstanding. Especially not for the price. why is it so hard to get bistro right, bistro good, and bistro at bistro prices?

We stood in line tonight and ordered the clam pie. Must say, we were totally unimpressed. Maybe its the water? Or they are working out the kinks? Certainly not New Haven -- or at least not as we remembered it. ;(

secondly I happen to LOVE that cake with salt in it! To each his own, in fact I think that the cake could use more salt! Brilliant and sophisticated in my opinion. I think the buttercream is perfect - it tastes like butter, real butter, because they probably use real butter?

I couldn't agree with you more. The food was innovative and I love many of the details in presentation -- even the cocktails had a large brick ice cube in them. Brilliant!
Chelsea area - first date dinner...suggestions, please
I second Suenos. Very romantic. Especially the view of that garden from the glass window. Not sure if all those onions and garlic is first-date friendly...just bring lots of breath mints!

The Murrays on 8th avenue in Chelsea is probably the closest to the Meatpacking District.

I love the beer battered fish tacos at Mercato. They remind me of authentic Baja style tacos you get in East LA. Very good!

We always go to Peking DUck on Mott Street. The line can be obnoxious, but the duck pancakes are delicious!

Its pretty good. Best thing about 9th avenue and this neighborhood in general is you can take a look at the menu and if you don't like it, you have hundreds of other restaurants to go to!
