Birthday dinner recommendations

So far I'm liking Aldea, Colicchio & Sons and Oceana.

I'm leaning more towards Aldea and Colicchio.

How's the tasting menu at Aldea?

Birthday dinner recommendations

The last 2 years I've come to the Chow board for restaurant recs. While I didn't specifically get Blue Hill as a response to my inquiry, I read enough on the boards to end up going there last year. The meal was incredible. The last few birthday dinners we've been to Scarpetta, Babbo, Blue Hill and Marea. Both of us enjoyed all the meals a great deal.

Given that 3 of the 4 above were Italian, I wouldn't be opposed to doing something different. While Marea was memorable, it might have been a little "too stuffy".

What I'm looking for:

Restaurants a grade to 2 below places like EMP, Le Bernadin, Daniel (with regards to price)

Setting (along the lines of Babbo, Scarpetta and Blue Hill)

I have a standing reservation at Marc Forgione, but I'm not sure if that's a "special" place for a birthday dinner.

Thanks everyone in advance.

Good seafood in Boston

Island Creek looks awesome. The only problem is that they are pretty much booked up.

Are they reservation only, or do they do walk-ins?

Good seafood in Boston

$150 or less (including drinks) for a dinner for 2.

Looking for a good place with a good raw bar, and oysters for less than $2 each.

Good seafood in Boston

I'm coming to Boston this weekend and looking for suggestions for good (reasonably priced) seafood places for dinner.

Thanks!

Going to Marea tomorrow night. Do I do the price fixe? What to order?

Is the crudo/pasta tasting menu $89 price fixe?

Looking to people's thoughts on whether I should do the price fixe and Marea? Also looking for recommendations on what to order. I will definitely be getting the fusilli.

Rosendo Fish Market - E 22nd and 1st Ave

+1 on Rosendo.

It is indeed the former "Gramercy Fish Co.".

It took me over a year to find this place!

Good bars nearby Peter Luger's in Williamsburg

Going to Peter Luger's tomorrow night. Can't wait for the food!

Can anyone recommend any good bars nearby?

What to order at Blue Hill?

I'm looking to keep this conversation on course. What do you guys recommend at Blue Hill NYC?

Stephanie-

Would it be possible to e-mail you offline? You gave me the Scarpetta recommendation, and that worked out very well last year.

You seem to have similar taste to me.

Birthday dinner recommendations

I'm back to the Chow board, after an amazing recommendation of Scarpetta last year. The food and the ambiance were perfect. My girlfriend actually rated that as her favorite meal of all time! My girlfriend's birthday is coming up again this year, and I'm looking for some suggestions. We went to Babbo for my birthday, which I also loved.

What I'm looking for:
Casual setting (along the lines of Babbo and Scarpetta)
Similar price range to those two
Amazing food (obviously)

My initial thought was Craft, Marea, Gramercy Tavern, or Convivio. I've been to Convivio and Craft though, and it might be nicer to try a place that neither of us have been.

I can offer more details if necessary.

Apiary-Any must have dishes?

Any other recs since this post?

Going to Convivio tonight. What to order?

I plan on going with the 4 course prix fixe tonight, but I'm looking for suggestions on dishes people really liked at Convivio.

Right now it seems like the fusilli is a winner.

Thanks.

Looking for informal business dinner recommendation on the East Side

I'm looking for recommendations for somewhere to go on the East Side for a business dinner. I'm open to most cuisine types, the only thing I need to be conscious of is price range. I was oringinally going to Delmonico's so I'd like to stay in that price range.

One place I was thinking of was Convivio as they have that nice 4 course price fixed menu. Any other recs?

I'd like to stay between Union Square and the Low 60's on the East Side.

Thanks

San Marzano Tomatoes in Juice not Puree?

Can anyone recommend a place to get La Valle San Marzano tomatoes at a cheap price? I've only seen them for $4-$5 a can.

Great Restaurants a tier below NYC's top restaurants (in price)

How's Extra Virgin on West 4th?

Great Restaurants a tier below NYC's top restaurants (in price)

I'm looking for a comprehensive list of recommendations for great restaurants that are a tier below Le Bernadin, EMP, Gotham B&G, Daniel with regards to price. I'm pretty open to all types of cuisine. The one caveat is that I'd like to keep entrees in the $20-$30 range.

Thanks for your help!

Best place for Produce in Gramercy/Murray Hill?

Does anyone have an opinion on the Greenmarket on 33rd? The Union Square one is a mob scene.

Best place for Produce in Gramercy/Murray Hill?

Anyone else?

Best place for Produce in Gramercy/Murray Hill?

There are a plethora of supermarkets in the area but find D'Agostino's to be somewhat disappointing. Does anyone have any recommendations for where to buy produce in the area? I'm obviously concerned primarily with quality, but price point is also a consideration.

Birthday dinner recommendation

I guess I'm open to all suggestions. He can just decide from there.

Birthday dinner recommendation

A buddy of mine is taking his girl out for her birthday. She doesn't eat red meat, so he's looking for a restaurant with a large seafood selection. He's looking to spend max. mid $30's for entrees.

The place I thought of was Craft, but he's looking for additional selections. He'd like to stay away from fine dining restaurants, and is looking for a more casual dinner.

I'd love to hear any recommendations anyone has.

Thanks.
