DC for a college kid

Hi Chowhounders,

I will be doing an internship in DC for 2.5 months. I am looking for recommendations for bars and restaurants. I am willing to splurge on a dinner if it is worth it, but I also love hole-in-the-walls. I love italian, japanese, and mediterranean cuisine. On a college budget!
