Recommendation for Anniversary dinner in New Hope, Doylestown, etc

We are looking to try somewhere new and great. Preferably with great atmosphere, too. We love love love Honey but are trying to branch out. We have been to a number of places in new hope and lambertville like Marsha browns (eh), Italian cuchina (very good), mothers, lillys on the canal, etc. A place where we could eat outside would be a bonus. Ideas?? Thx!

Need help with a Jamaican dinner party

Having a dinner party with a Jamaica theme on Saturday. I need some simple, easy recipes to make (something for an app, salad, and dinner)

OR...

Is there anywhere local that specializes in Jamaican food that I can get some things at to supplement a meal?

Thanks for any help!

Casablanca in Warrington

Thanks for the helpful info! I will bring some dollars (and wine, I'll need it! ha!) and will report back later this weekend!

Casablanca in Warrington

Has anyone been there? We are trying it out on Saturday night and hear good things. Eight courses for $27 and bellydancers sounds fun!!

Just wanted to hear anyone's experiences!

Thanks!

The Joseph Ambler Inn

Glad you all like it as I did! I agree -- the outdoor patio area is just beautiful and a great place to eat in the spring!

Suggestions for group of 25 near Ambler, PA

Mirna's in Blue Bell is also a really nice place for a party. I have been there a few times for a private party and thought they did a nice job. Also check out Marco Polo in Jenkintown (have been there for a bridal shower)

The Joseph Ambler Inn

This weekend I got to experience the Joseph Ambler Inn (stayed overnight and had dinner and breakfast) Prior to going, I looked on Chowhound for info and didn't see any, so I wanted to share with all of you my experience (which was great!)

The food was delicious (the best sea bass I have had in many, many years) and the property beautiful. I'm not sure why it has taken me so long to ever go there when I live so close! (It's in Montgomeryville, I live in Ambler!)

Anyway, I wrote up a review if you are interested in reading more about it. It was a great experience and they are running some nice specials right now (like $100 for a room including a nice full breakfast)

I hope this helps!

ISO bland, unseasoned food in Willow Grove, Plymouth Meeting, Ambler, King of Prussia

Pumpernicks is the best! There is always something for everyone, and everything is delicious. However, this isn't exactly where you asked to meet.

So I would suggest Corner Bakery in Willow Grove (you can get breakfast there all day, and they also have lots of good bagels/carb food which is good for women with morning sickness -- at least it was for me! ;) Panera Bread is also in Willow Grove, as well as Cosi and Jason's Deli (all within a few minutes of each other)

There is a Cheesecake Factory in Willow Grove mall, and I;m sure you could both find something there as that menu is huge, but that may be too heavy for you.

In Plymouth Meeting, as someone else mentioned, the new Whole Foods is great and they do have a large seating area (and a restaurant!) to eat at. There is also California Pizza Kitchen (everyone can eat pizza, right?) and a Qdoba across from the mall, where you can get grilled chicken or beef and rice (pretty bland)

Lots of choices! I hope this helps!

(ps. When I was pregnant, I never turned down a trip to Pumpernicks, so that would be my 1st choice!)

Sushi 4 you -- Horsham

Tonight my husband and I tried Sushi 4 you (takeout) in Horsham. We were a little scared because the last time we ate at Yama (same place, different owner) we were not happy.

Well, this time we found the sushi to be very good! We ordered a few different rolls and really enjoyed them. The fish was fresh, the rolls a great size, and overall we just liked it! Next time we will order more quantity and variety (we wanted to get our feet wet first)

You can actually order online and they will have it ready for you, too. Pretty neat! www.getsushi4you.com

Anyone else been there?

Fuji North Wales

I love Fuji! It is one of my favorite sushi places along with Blue Fin, Ooka, and Cho Cho San.

FYI, YES they do have 1/2 price sushi rolls on Monday and Tuesday, dine-in only. The list of roles is VERY extensive and it is an EXCELLENT deal. I went with three girlfriends and we ate a lot of roles (probably 7 or 8?), each got a salad and drink, and it ended up being $12 each. It really is a deal. And it's not just your standard tuna roll. They have some special roles for 1/2 off. Check it out!

Is Sushikazu in Blue Bell open for business..........

I have been to Yama in Horsham and don't love it. It's not bad, but the roles are HUGE (too big) and I just don't think it is up to par with Cho Cho San, Blue Fin, or Ooka. We have only been there twice and always opt to go to one of the other places I mentioned (or Fuji in North Wales). I wonder if a new sushi place will open in Horsham? Anyone know?

Cozy upscale restaurant in or near Blue Bell for anniversary dinner for two - moved from Pennsylvania board

I also like Trax, but how about a place in Skippack like Fuzion or Back Porch Cafe? Back Porch is very cozy and intimate (especially in the winter with the fireplaces!) I also hear Parc Bistro is good!

Where are you getting your Turkey's from?

Whole Foods has organic, free-range turkeys and they are always very good quality. Not sure where the closest one is to you but there has to be one somewhere!

Places for a large group near the Keswick (Glenside)

15 women are headed to the Keswick for my sister-in-law's bachelorette party. We are seeing a show and then after are heading to Plush for after-show drinks.

I need some ideas for places to take the group BEFORE the show for apps/dinner and drinks. Any other places besides the Keswick Tavern? (And is there a nail salon nearby for some of us to get our nails done?)

Thanks!

Where to find Elmo cupcakes in NW Philly or the burbs?

You can get them anytime at George's Shop N Bag in Dresher. They have the smaller cupcakes (both Elmo and Cookie Monster) and they can also do a bigger cupcake cake that feeds more people in Elmo or Cookie.

DeTerra Wine Bar - all I can say is wow!

I went to Dettera with 5 friends a few weeks ago. I agree that the place is beautiful! We felt like we were in Center City, not Ambler. The food was also very good... however, it was (in my opinion) VERY pricey. Too pricey. And I was very disappointed in the wine list. They branded it as a wine bar but didn't have wine flights. In fact, our waitress (who was terrible, I have to say) didn't even know what a wine flight was. She looked confused when I asked.

My advice? Visit this place for a drink or some apps. Or maybe some pizza. The Cheese plate was very nice. I will definitely go back, but not for a full dinner.

Baby friendly restaurants in Philly or burbs?

I agree that while the baby is in the infant carrier (the first 4-5 months or so) you can pretty much go anywhere. The baby is like luggage ;) After that, it does get tougher (especially if you want your baby to go to bed at a reasonable time, in their crib)

I have two kids (ages 2 and almost 5) and we were big foodies before kids. Now we prefer to get a sitter and enjoy our meal out ;) When our kids were little we would go to Blue Fin a lot (on the early side) since it was near our house. I agree that Christophers in Wayne is a great spot. Assuming you live in Ambler (I live there too!) I would say that around here the best places to go with kids are the Fireside Grille (never been but my friends love taking their kids there), you can probably get away with Pistachio on the earlier side as well as Zakes. I find places in Ambler to be pretty kid friendly. Cho-cho san in North Wales is very kid friendly. Really most places are if you go BEFORE SIX! on a sat night. (Exception -- when your little one is asleep in the infant carrier)

Anyway, I feel like I am rambling! I'm happy to chat with you more about this since we live in the same area! :) Jen

Great restaurant suggestion for a bridal shower

I'm planning a bridal shower for my sister-in-law for about 40 people. I would love to have it somewhere cute and intimate. My first choice would be a place like Cresheim Cottage Cafe, but they closed :( I also love Valley Green Inn but they are totally booked. Any other ideas for a cute, good place in Monco or Bucks counties? (Already called Caffete and Cake, they won't do a shower)

Anyone know anything about Curds and Whey? Any other ideas of something with charm?

Thanks in advance!!

Ambler Girl...what's the deal with Costa Deli?

Robbins Park is a very short distance from Costas. You could totally go there and eat! (May have to drive but it's like 2 min away)

Any good sushi places around Ambler, PA?

I am a huge sushi eater and also live in Ambler. My top 3 favorite places in order that I like to go to are:

1. Blue Fin (used to live in Plymouth Meeting and we went way back when they first opened and are friendly with the owners.) -- The most fresh sushi around. Awesome.
2. Ooka in Willow Grove. Love it there! Some interesting rolls and very good. Almost as good as Blue Fin
3. Cho Cho San (North Wales) TIED with Fuji (by Whole Foods) Both great places for sushi and well priced, too.

I also like Osaka in Chestnut Hill and oo-ta-ya in Warrington. Funny, I have never tried Sushikazu in Blue Bell, though my parents live there and love it. I guess I need to try it there based on all of this great feedback. Also, I have heard great things about the new place in Lansdale -- which, by the way, was opened by a former sushi chef at Blue Fin. (The little comp fried fish is something Blue Fin started years ago!)

I'm hungry now!!!
