Eater Comes to New Orleans

It all sounds great except I would never send anyone to Tomatillo's...if you would like good and authentic Mexican food travel a few blocks further into the quarter and go to El Gato Negro. In a word... fabulous!

Trying to Remember

Maybe you are thinking of Cafe Degas? It is still a really great place to dine!

Dick and Jenny's or La Petite Grocery

Dick and Jenny's is in no way a dive...Coop's is a dive. Dick and Jenny's does have it's own way, the vinyl table covers, the old dishes, the jelly jars for water glasses but it is always clean and they too have clan white linen napkins.. The atmosphere, the service and the food are wonderful and inventive at a fair price and Richard's (Dick) Art is delightful. We had dinner there last night and from the Fried Oysters to our entrees our meal was excellent with not a frozen vegetable in sight. When friends or family visit a trip to Dick and Jenny's is always in order. The owners are two very hard working young people and they are doing a great job of continuing Richard and Jenny's success!

Sunday + Monday Jazz

Snug Harbor for both Jazz and dinner...on Frenchmen Street... the hippest street in New Orleans.

Favorite Jazz Fest Food

I was surprised I had to go down the posts this far before I saw Jama-jama ummm! One of my favorite go to dishes at JF

8 days in April...my plan.

I would drop Cafe Amelie on Sunday for brunch at the Marigny Brasserie on Frenchmen...great brunch and wonderful music by the Pfister Sisters.

Coop's

Thanks hamsandwich...I guess I let wilwrk's comment get to me...I own a business that caters to tourist. Without them I would not be in business...so believe me I appreciate and Thank God for everyone of them. Having been back in NOLA since mid September 2005 the only "obviously devastated" parts of the city today are the parts that were affected by the Federal Flood (and I see progress there)...not the areas that our guests visit i.e. "the sliver by the river" that was damaged by the Hurricane itself. For wilwrk to say that New Orleanians do not appreciate our guests is...well it is just wrong. So let's stick to food, after all that's what this board is all about. And, as I said, Coops' Fried Chicken rules!

Wine: Where/What to buy?

Bacchanal's on Poland in the Bywater. Sunday dinners in the courtyard with Chef Pete or visiting Chefs are amazing.

Okay, I will probably get flack for this, but...

Coop's for Fried Chicken...you can't get that at Mimi's. I love Mimi's too great tapas and vibe.

Coop's

Please, stick to the food or service. I live in this "obviously devastated city"...where did you go that was so obviously devastated? I'm really curious, because it would not be where tourist generally go and it is certainly not the French Quarter... we greatly appreciate any one that comes to visit or volunteer to help rebuild our city. And, spending money does help us. But if you expect servers in a dive bar to fall all over you for buying dinner there you are setting yourself up for disappointment.

Coop's fried chicken rules!

Anne has not been associated with Peristyle for sometime. It is now one of Chef Wolfe's restaurants.
