Where to buy mini-buns for sliders?

Reviving this old thread for the official start of grilling season on/for Memorial Day weekend...

Any new news regarding slider buns?

Fall 2012 in Tokyo

I know it's still far off, but never too early when you have to plan a trip overseas? ;)

Some friends and I will be in Tokyo from November 16th to the 26th, so are there seasonal Fall food items that we should make an effort not to miss?

Sam Wo's

IMHO, Chinatown has been on the decline for the past several decades...

Doesn't even come close to what it was like in the '60s and '70s... The days of my youth... :)

The only places I still visit in Chinatown are the various stores on Stockton for groceries... And Capital on Clay for meals...

Fire at Great China?

Well... So much for this window of time...

Any new news? :)

Anyone have more details on the recent change of ownership of Thai House Express on Larkin?

Didn't the (original?) chef move to Oakland to open his own place several years ago?

Pann's

Is Pann's on La Tijera still well regarded?

Ate there several years ago and had the chicken fried steak, which I thought was OK...

KyoChon

Curious about visiting a location of this chain...

Is there a preferred location--one better than the others?

I see there are four locations... In L.A., Glendale, Culver City and Cerritos...

The Melt - Fairly Epic Fail

Embarcadero Center One, right on the corner of Sacramento and Front Streets... I think it used to be a Coach store...

The Melt - Fairly Epic Fail

Looks like the second outpost of this chain-in-the-making will open next week...

Dude has money to burn? ;)

has anyone seen Black Garlic in S.F, on the Peninsula or San Jose?

Yes... I've seen this item at Berkeley Bowl West this past weekend.

Packaged as whole heads in the produce section...

And loose gloves... Oddly enough, at the check-out stands...

Ramen and Pastrami Lunch in Alexander’s Steakhouse Lounge (Cupertino)

Is Alexander's still serving lunch (ramen) on weekdays?

Primal, Napa - September 2011

Thanks! :)

Off The grid

I agree with the 'been there, done that'...

I usually went with a bunch of friends, so we could try stuff from multiple vendors...

And we went to the OtG at Fort Mason... To maximize the experience...

May still go again, since they're rotating in new truck/vendors... And best to go early!

Best burgers in the Bay Area 2011

Primal, Napa - September 2011

This event isn't until September, but I was wondering if anyone here had been to the previous two events, and what their impression(s) were...

New Korean wings joint on Geary Blvd.?

Hmm... Found this link for the place... http://www.redwingskor.com/

Got it from... yelp, of all places...

If you go by the dates on the yelp posts... It's been open since mid-2010?!

New Korean wings joint on Geary Blvd.?

A friend of mine while driving on Geary, believes he saw a new Korean wings joint...

Somewhere... Maybe... Around Arguello?

He's not definitely sure exactly what the cross streets are, but thinks that's the general area...
He said he was kinda driving fast and only caught a glimpse of signage... :)

Can anyone provide more info, or know of this new place? :)

Need names of Food Trucks in Berkeley/East Bay

Maybe this site can be of assistance? http://www.sfcartproject.com/

What ever happened to Blum's?

I live just up the block from the old Blum's on Polk & California Street. I thought the chain just kinda kicked the bucket and all of them shutdown at the same time... But I was very young then and don't recall the details... When Blum's closed, I believe new owners/tenants opened a place called, 'The Haven.' Years later, I believe most of the building was destroyed by a fire and eventually torn down and now we have a that horrible mini-mall... ;)

Waffle Mania now has a Kiosk in SF!

Yup... According to his twitter page... The truck is out of service (temporarily)...

Has anyone ever had the Mandarin Chicken at Great China?

Is it like San Tung's dry-fried chicken (wings)?

Noted on the last page of the PDF of their menu located at their on-line site:

'Reservations for parties of 6 or more are taken depending on availability, and may be cancelled if you are more than 10 minutes late. Reservations are subject to a $15 per person minimum.'

Probably not strictly enforced... As long as you get close enough to their 'target'... ;)

The good and the bad at Berkeley's Great China...

Hello SFBA CH community...

We have a dinner reservation at Great China in Berkeley... And since they seem to require a minimum of $15 per person...

I'd/we'd like some suggestions, or warnings, on what's good... And what to avoid... At this fine dining establishment...

Thank you for your input... :)
