Handsome Coffee Roasters -I really liked it.
I love that open-faced strawberry donut at Donut Man, in Glendora right? Just off ol famous route 66.
Great stuff, but I never get out there for obvious reasons.
Who makes your favorite patty melt?
Forgot to respond.
I liked the Patty Melt at Pann's though it was not amazing nor earth shattering. But I do have to say the burger was dripping beef juices, the american cheese worked (though it didn't make it's presence felt to richly and saltely so a cheddar would have worked in this case too). I do have to say the burger was beefy. And it was good.
Now if memory does not escape me, one of the best patty melts in memory is the one they make at Hamburger Hamlet. Though there aren't too many locations left so I'll have to check which ones are open and report back.
One thing that bugged me about Pann's is when I ordered fresh fruit, it came with a tiny slice of melon. Not what I was expecting at all. Anyhow I demolished the whole sandwich in a matter of minutes and then afterwards felt heavy though not terribly heavy.
Definitely a once in a blue moon sandwich for me.
new sushi italian joint?
I'll hit it up for dinner, maybe not for the whole hog omakase, still gotta save up some dough.
but espeically for the seared toro and foie gras dish, and that uni risotto, hopefully i can either reguest them or order them off the menu.
thanks.
Sahag's House of Basturma in Pasadena
Yeah, I remember from the old location on Sunset, the original Sahag's, that the bread was toasted like a panini.
Sahag's House of Basturma in Pasadena
The cathy blog sandwich picture looks more like sausage than basturma, or am i mistaken?
Who makes your favorite patty melt?
Now would it still taste as good with the cheddar because the beef and carmelized onions give the necessary punch ?
The Sandwich at Roma Deli
Sweet. beyond fucking sweet.
i'm going to head down there soon, at least for some of the groceries.
and maybe the turkey sandwich if he'll deign to serve it again.
Who makes your favorite patty melt?
Done, end of story. I will hit it up today too.
Should I just get it with the american cheese or you think it would still be ok to substitute for cheddar ????
Who makes your favorite patty melt?

Boiling Crab is a mini-chain at best, shrimp or rather crawfish boils with allt he sauces boiled in a huge plastic bag thrown at white butchered paper covered tables and great washed down with copious amounts of cheap beer.
it's La. by way of vietnam by way of vietnnamese expats who made the trek from texas after settling there, supposedly, i think jg, mentioned something along those lines.

Suupposedly there's also a killer shrimp style dish, near the old KS space, on washington called Sunny Days, or Sunny ?(something) where beechwood used to be located.
anyhow, they have the langostinos in a new orleans-inflected broth.

I will have to agree that I sort of like Killer Shrimp, but it's not as good as before. Not nearly.
And it's sweet potato pecan pie with fresh whipped cream is good.
But I'm confused Peter, is there a Killer Cafe and Killer Shrimp, and you like one of them but not the other?
thanks.
new sushi italian joint?
sorry, someone may have posted on this earlier, maybe jl or portos???
thanks. sorry was in a rush to find it, ... my apologies for my laziness on this one.
thanks a bunch.
Foie Gras?
Maybe trie Aimme's bistro (sp?) or Chez Melange, or there was a gourmet food counter in gardena that had chefly prepared dishes for take out, maybe it was in the Harbor Gateway, but supposedly really good, but i can't remember the name.
also, you may have posted this earlier and i missed it but how about Papilles for a few slabs of their speciall terrine that is distrinct from their prixe-fixe meal???
Who makes your favorite patty melt?
i really liked the one that i had at Cafe 50s both the west la and venice location (the venice one is half the price, but it might have to do with the crummy atmosphere that i love at the venice locale and not just the food).
didn't like the one i had at Nick's, it felt like i was going to need triple cardiac bypass after eating their patty melt and not in a good way, and i didn't even have any fries with it, though i did have a pancake on the side, which was decent.
Who makes your favorite patty melt?
Yeah, I always wondered why hospital cafeterias always seem to serve such greasy burgers and fries and pizzas.
Sadly, i guess it's like one-stop shopping.
Who makes your favorite patty melt?
I hope i can get it with cheddar cheese there.
then i'll be set.
can't really do american chz no more.
Who makes your favorite patty melt?
I never tried it but will now, in case I go there for the corned beef hash again or am not feelling the fried chicken wings and waffle for the day.
I Had a Great Crabcake today at Veggie Grill
Wow, I can't believe all the hounds are getting behind this place it seems, especially for a commercial joint.
Maybe I'll need to check it out.
I Had a Great Crabcake today at Veggie Grill
so it's tasty, the crab cake item i mean, but very un-healthy ???
thanks.
Best noodle soups in San Gabriel Valley?
I'm going to have to try this hand pulled pasta at H and H in Monterey Park.
But what sauce does it arrive with if not of course, in a jidaiya miso broth?
Thanks a bunch.
Btw, this thread is getting out of hand and I can't quite keep up, sadly.
Omakase at Mori Sushi: A Pictorial Essay
I highly doubt that in LA he is doling out sushi at 930 am.
Darn, 170 bucks before tax and tip sounds like a lot. I may just save up and go whole hog on Urasawa sometime soon.
Del Taco Coming To SM Blvd. WLA
Yea. It's the old Koo Roo Roo space that feels like its been shuttered for more than a couple years.
Kiriko's $40 Lunch Sushi Omakase (Review and Pics)
And hence to that I would say that Shunji is only open at dinner time.
