DFW to Terlingua

Oh yum!! Thanks so much for the rec.

DFW to Terlingua

And ceviche tostadas, and tortillas, and i thought quiche?? I'm so confused...LOL. Oh wait, and there was guacamole, salsa, bacon wrapped jalapenos. Lol.

DFW to Terlingua

Wow! thanks for the awesome tips.

Thanks!!

DFW: Spanish Tapas and Olives??

Photos of what? Is that a tapa of french fries?? Is it a Happy Meal?

DFW: Spanish Tapas and Olives??

The last time we were at Cafe Madrid, we weren't extremely impressed. A friend of ours had quail that was pretty tough. Wasn't terrible, just not impressive.

However, Sangria came very highly recommended from a very sweet bartender at Cru. Haven't been yet, but haven't heard anything negative about it.

Several years back, I worked at Cafe Malaga in Mckinney. The tapas were superb, but i have heard that they have slid downhill over the past year (sad). But, if you're in the area, the lamb kebabs and goat cheese stuffed piquillo peppers are consistent from what i hear. Wonderful crema catalana, also.

DallasDude and I are driving to the chili festival in Terlingua. Our route brings us through Abilene and Odessa. Any must try or can't misses? Namely BBQ, as we are starved for it here in Dallas. Thanks, in advance!

Georgetown Tx

Didn't rank "really good" anymore? That's a shame, it used to be the best place in town.
Did you dine anywhere else worth mentioning? Georgetown is a really cute little town.

Recipes You've Never Heard of Outside Your Family

LOL, I so crave that soup (scroll up, my mom did the same thing, but stirred in a little Cheez-whiz, people look at me like I am nuts when I tell them the Cheez-Whiz part).

Recipes You've Never Heard of Outside Your Family

What went wrong with it? picante sauce was at a steady simmer, right?

Georgetown Tx

I've been to Monument many times, and always good. However, not extremely recently. Like I said, Austin board could offer more help.

Georgetown Tx

You are welcome, might want to ask about BBQ on the Austin board, i know this area has good BBQ (at least better than what we are used to in Dallas).

Recipes You've Never Heard of Outside Your Family

Oh, just remembered something else: My dad would make something he called "hot eggs" on the weekends. he would poach eggs in Pace's picante sauce then pile on cheddar cheese, these were always served with tortillas. My brother would only eat them with Grand's biscuits. Actually pretty good hangover cure.

The Monument Cafe on Austin Ave. is very good. That's the only restaurant i've been to within the last 3 years, can't vouch for any others, sorry.

Also, you might have more luck posting this on the Austin board.

Camping Chowhound Style

I couldn't agree more! Food does taste better after being outside all day. After a summer full of the same 'ol burgers and dogs, that gets boring, besides we weren't cooking for any kiddos.

Recipes You've Never Heard of Outside Your Family

My mother used to boil egg noodles in chicken broth, then stir in a scoop of cheez-whiz. Most people look at me like I'm crazy when I mention Cheez-Whiz, lol, my mother put it in EVERYTHING when I was a kid. Anytime we were ever under the weather, that was dinner. I still make it anytime I don't feel well. LOL, it's our cure-all. It's a great way to get some calories into a kid with a tummy bug, as well.

THE 2009 GREAT STATE FAIR OF TEXAS!

LOLOLOLOL, GREAT review! Thanks.

Great cocktails in Dallas?

As a matter of fact, it was the Melting Pot, and it was prom.

Just to clarify...LOL

Great cocktails in Dallas?

Was it Villa O? Good recs, DD, as always! Not only were the drinks fabulous, the food looked out of this world!
if you're in the area, the margarita's at Javier's are a must.

Addison is always a lot of fun, get a taxi, though.

Where will you be staying and how far are you willing to drive?

Best Burger In Dallas/Fort Worth

Well, of course, my darling partner in burger-crime! We are due for a good one, lol :)

Cool, thanks, I'll give it a shot. Always looking for an excuse to go to the galleria. : )

Kaiten/"Conveyor Belt" Sushi in Dallas?

I noticed a place on my way to work this morning named Sushi Envy, it's in the new shopping center just south of 121 on Preston on the border of Plano/Frisco. The sign read Conveyer Belt Sushi, haven't tried it, so can't give any info about price or quality.

Best Burger In Dallas/Fort Worth

Panda, interesting to hear about your good experience at 5 guys, i've only heard negative in regards to that Galleria location.

Texas State Fair 2009: Starts this Friday!

Ugh, fried butter...remind you of anything? LOL. It all sounds like cardiac arrest. The little stuffed peppers might be decent, though.

Best Chinese buffet in Dallas

Awww, as long as you didn't bring the new converts to an all-you-can-eat, eat-until-you-die chinese buffet, i would in no way consider it a failure.

Best Chinese buffet in Dallas

Not sure how much I'd rely on a list that suggests a buffet as one of the top 100, I know TX is hurting for them, but seriously. It can't change the fact that whatever you are consuming has been sitting under a heat lamp for god knows how long. No thanks.

Barefoot Contessa: Goat Cheese Scrambled Eggs

Yes, the butter episode on Paula's Party. Same episode where hunky guys brought out a butter sculpture of Deen. Truly nauseating.

Ignore a user

I believe that feature has already been implemented with the "expand all" option. You can very easily only read chowhound posts of your choosing, simply don't "expand all". LOL, it's as simple as NOT clicking your mouse.

Plano--fine dining?

I love Jasper's at the shope at Legacy. Legacy and Bishop, food, service, and atmosphere are all great. Be prepared to pay for the good food, atmosphere, and service at Jasper's, though.
