Coming to NY for 2 nights, and looking for 2 really great, cant miss dinner restaurants. More of the trendy end but still high-quality, consistent meat and inivative dishes. Traveling with a chef, so need to impress. One night must have osso bucco on the menu. Staying in midtown, but will travel anywhere for a good meal. Want to stay away from Times Square/touristy areas.
Thank you!!

Last Minute Midtown Restaurant Ideas
We are traveling up to Atlanta and staying at the Four Seasons Midtown for a wedding this weekend. Here are some restaurants I have found on the boards, but if we only have one dinner Friday night and one lunch or brunch on Saturday, what can we not miss out on? It would be a group in their later twenties/early thirties. Entrees $30 and lower. Can include sushi if there is a to die for place. And we will have cars, but do not want to drive too far.
South City Diner

Restaurant Eugene - Iron Chef
Ecco - Italian
Two Urban LIcks - trendy small plates - fiery American

Relocating to Orlando and a huge foodie
Thank you for these suggestions - I will definitely make a point to try them all. Keep sending if others come to mind :)
I did try Bento this weekend and loved it - was in and out in an hour, and the quality was not skimped at all!
Napasorn, however I had the other night as well for takeout and was not that impressed. I ordered the phad thai and it was flavorless to me - but the meal my boyfriend ordered, he was very pleased with - I believe it was the spicy beef and vegetables.
We went to Del Frisco's on Friday night with a large party and I have to say - the steaks there have gotten better than I remembered! The renovation to the place looked great and the steaks were cooked perfect! The broccoli and cheese was the best side dish we had and the crab cakes had no breading and were so flavorful!
Relocating to Orlando and a huge foodie
Hi - I am relocating from Tampa to Orlando and am looking for restaurants to dine at in and around downtown Orlando.
We live downtown by Thornton Park and know about all the popular restaurants in the area - Ravenous Pig, Kres, Citrus, Shari, Dexters, Logans, K, Taste, Shin, Napasorn, Cityfish, 310, Rare Olive, etc...I am looking/hoping to hear about unique finds I wouldnt see on the 10 top restaurant sites.
I would like to stay away from the touristy section, but if there are outstanding restaurants that locals normally go to, I am interested in hearing. The only cuisine I cannot eat is Chinese, but absolutely love Japanese, German, mexican, good salads, great steaks, fresh seafood, southern cuisine, and cuban/spanish.
I look forward to hearing about all your responses!!
Girl's weekend in Tampa
what part of the tampa area are you specifically staying in?
Tampa Bay Recomendations
You also have Rawbar and Taps for light food and drinks before the show
Tampa Bay Recomendations
arco iris is a hole in the wall and not a great date place but more of a lunch spot.
Selmons is a chain and not original for a date but decent bbq, Jimbos is overrated.
Byblos is a good option, great atmosphere and great food. along the same lines is Marrakech (more focused on Morrocan) but lots of coucous and lamb, etc
Bin 27 is also a godo choice, but make a reservation if its a weekend night. Filet is a good choice and the tuna appetizer.
Laughing Cat is not one of my picks for Italian - I would say Osteria (the old Spartaco on s. macdill), Cafe Paradiso, Laura Ristourante or Vino E Pasta
Malios is a good choice for atmosphere, but if you are looking for a great steak, Capital Grill's kona filet is much better, as well as Flemings. Grill 116 in N. Tampa is also a great choice.
Other good choices are Baileys in Hyde Park (only open Wed, Thurs, and Fri nights) and fantastic southern home cooking. and BYOB. Wine Exchange, Ceviche, Acropolis is Ybor, Bernini in Ybor, Bungalow Bistro on Nebraska, Soho Sushi, Sakana, Ocean Prime, Oystercatchers, Armanis...and I agree with Pane Rustica above.
I am sure there are others Im not thinking of right this second, but these you cant go wrong with and i am a picking eater!
Tampa for 3 days - What are the best places to eat? Best places to see?
Gallaghers Steakhouse is mediocre at best, i would definitely refrain from there.
Also, what area are you staying in Tampa and I will guide you to best breakfast...
Greek Food in Tampa??
I agree with the generous portion sizes for Gogos, but i would not say they are a great greek food place. Definitely Chipolte for Greek, but with that comes only being decent not great food sometimes even being bland. Chipotle compared to true mexican does not compare.
Massimos Fine Dining Palm Harbor - Don't Miss - Terrific
Massimo's is fabulous food and atmosphere, but I would not say it is the most expense Italian restaurant. Please keep that in mind - it is middle range Italian prices with above average quality.
Cafe Ponte
The steak au poivre was excellent AND huge! The sauce was so melt in your mouth!
Dinner Delivery - South Tampa?
www.tampabaydelivered.com
They increase their prices a bit, but at least you can order from a variety of places.
Daytona Beach for Birthday
If you are looking for sushi or hibachi anytime throughout the weekend, please try Edamame. The sushi is very good and fresh! About a 10 minute drive from the beach.
Kutu Japanese Steakhouse - South Tampa
I finally found out some information on this spot. It is Koto - not Kutu and is planning a September 1st opening. Anyone know if this is independant or part of the chain?
Dinner Deals - Tampa
And another one :) All you can eat filet at Grill One Sixteen for $21 on Tuesdays. First serving comes with a side item.
Dinner Deals - Tampa
Another one:
Malio's 1/2 off steaks and $2 finlandia martinis Weekdays from 11am-7pm
Dinner Deals - Tampa
In this economy, I think its best to spread the word about great dinner deals..Here are some I am aware of, please send over yours to get the word out :)
Mondays:
1/2 price bottles of wine at Wine Exchange
Tuesdays:
Ceviche - $4 tapas items
Timpano - ladies night- free appts and $3 martinis
Monday through Friday:
Flemings $5-$7 appts from 5 -7
Berninis - 1/2 price entrees til 7
Ocean Prime - discount pricing on appts and speciality drinks - some as low as 5
Any others??
What is the best seafood restaurant in Tampa Bay area?
Salt Rock Grill is one of my favotie seafood upscale dinners. For low key by the beach, try Wahoo for a grouper sandwich. For Tampa, Oystercatchers for an upscale dinner or Mangroves in South Tampa. Normally a going out spot, but on an off night, go for dinner in the intimate setting. Side Berns also has really fresh upscale seafood menu items.
Edamame Japanese Restaurant in Daytona--Very pleased
We just stumbled upon Edamame last night also on a search for a non-chain restaurant while making the drive from Tampa to Jacksonville. We saw Edamame in the back corner about 2 miles off of i-95 and were so happy to have stopped in.
We sat at the sushi counter and the sushi chef which I presume was the owner was so friendly constantly checking on us and making sure everything was to our liking.
The place was pretty quiet on a Friday night so I am hopeful to get the word out to some locals to please give it a try - it needs to last!
Sushi appetizer - flash fried tuna wrapped in seaweed and topped in spicy sauce. Tuna and avocado roll, godzilla roll - spicy tuna topped in avocado and tobiko, and the Ichiban roll - fried shrimp and avocado and topped in baked spicy crab and eel sauce. The fresh was very fresh and the presentation was so beautifully displayed. Sushi was better than many places i have been to in Tampa!!
I will definitely make this my midway stop on my drives to Jacksonville all the time, both service and the food was outstanding - completely agree with you LynAK!
Orlando (Downtownish): Two nights of excellent dinners?
Ceviche is great for Tapas and atmohsphere...But you have to like spanish type food and lots of garlic...Order the papas bravatos - potatoes in a garlic aoili - BEST thing on the menu.
White Wolf is great for a medium priced fresh meal - love their desserts...They have really good salads and flatbread, but not sure if this is what you are looking for for a elegant night out - but still a good choice if you are looking for more low key.
I have not eaten at the others, but also agree with Hue for contemporary style restaurnat - great filet, adn Ravenouse Pig for a boisterous tapas style but not Spanish food items gastro pub.
I would also recommend Kres downtown for steak, Citrus for contemporary, Shin or Shari for sushi both in the downtown areas and a more upscale atmosphere.
Osteria Natalina (Tampa)
I have been waiting to go to hear about the change, so thank you! What kind of price differences would you say in comparision to Spartaco's?
Jacksonville Steakhouse
Are there no Jacksonville foodies? :) What about Sun Dog? Tree Steakhouse? Aqua Grill?
Kutu Japanese Steakhouse - South Tampa
It has been a little bit so I am hoping to see if there have been any leaks about an opening date yet for Kutu's? Also, any information on the place..
Also another new spot opening on S Macdill Blvd - French Mediteranean..Any news on this spot? Old Koba's location...
Jacksonville Steakhouse
I am going to Jacksonville this weekend and will be dining out with my family. They suggested a steakhouse with a price of 20 - 25 per entree. Do you have any recommendations within this price range? I would be ordering filet rare. It doesnt neccesarily have to be a steakhouse it can be a place with a good steak, but not too contemporary of a menu as my dad is a straight meat and potato guy.
I looked at the Tree Steakhouse as an option - would this be a good choice?
Would like to stay in Jacksonville, live close to beach blvd near Atlantic Beach but will drive 20 minutes or so...
Taco Bus in Tampa?
The Taco Bus is still there and still as good as before! With more seating now, you can sit inside and not worry about the summer heat. The burritor or lunch taco specials are the way to go with the rice and beans all for $6. I have tried other mexican in the area, and this is the best around - at least from what I have found....Do not look for an actual bus because from the road you cannot see it - its in the back for to go orders....From 2-75 go left off the interstate and it will be on your right - 913 hillsborough
