Over Easy Scottsdale or Herb Box DC Ranch for Breakfast?

Thanks everyone for their feedback. We had a great breakfast at OverEasy and they were also really helpful with my friend's gluten intolerance.

Over Easy Scottsdale or Herb Box DC Ranch for Breakfast?

I have a friend who is coming into town staying in north Scottsdale and trying to decide between the 2 for breakfast (or open to someplace else). I love Herb Box for lunch but have never been for breakfast.
Thanks in advance.

Review: Petite Maison (Scottsdale, AZ)

Also had a great experience on our first dinner at Petite Maison. As mentioned service was very friendly and we were made to feel right at home. The place is indeed petite but cozy. It will be nice when the weather cools off to sit on the patio.
I had the French Onion soup and the pork loin. Both were delicious and had great simple flavors. Hubby had the house salad and the steak frites and the bites I stold were also delicious. We finished off with the souffle which was amazing! We will defintely be back. Well prepared food, friendly service and a cozy atmosphere.

Does anyone have any reports on this restaurant yet? Opened in the space that Digestif used to be located. Some of the items on the menu sound intriguing....

Not sure how far north you are looking for but I like Bomberos in Sunnyslope. Good wine selection and good nibbles.

Sedona recommendations?

Thanks Janeh for the update. When I looked at their website, it looked like they just had dinner hours. I didn't know about the fire. Glad to hear they are still open for lunch.

Sedona recommendations?

Are there any other recommendations for lunch spots in Sedona? I used to go to the Heartline Cafe for lunch when visiting but it no longer seems to be open for lunch. Any favorites? Thanks in advance!

Budget friendly but high quality wine for a reunion

I am looking for some suggestions for budget friendly high quality wine (white or red) that will have mass appeal for a large group for a reunion. It will be warm so summer friendly wines are a bonus. Anyone have any good finds or old stand bys? Thanks in advance!

Summer deals in the PHX area?

Not specific to summer but I like the happy hour deals at Autostrada. Mon - Sun 3 - 6pm, they have half off glasses of wine, $3 peronis and assorted appetizers. The cheese and meat plates were good and $10 each.

Review: Posh (Scottsdale)

I notice that Posh is doing a special early bird 4 course menu for $35 for the summer. Do you think this would be worth it or would we leave hungry? We haven't been yet so thought this would be a good introduction but also thinking it might be best to just splurge and do the extended course menu instead.

Kaito... a question (San Diego)

I agree with this - my husband and I tried Kaito for the first time this weekend and we were made to feel completely at ease. At first we didn't undertsand what we were supposed to do - no menus, no boards with specials - but we put ourselves in the very capable hands of the chef and were so glad we did. He asked if we were willing to try anything and then based on what we tried and liked, he would suggest something else. It was a wonderful experience and probably the freshest sushi I have ever had. My husband isn't the most adventurous of sushi eaters - california rolls were exotic to him when we first met but he enjoyed everything. This is truly a hidden gem!

Local Breeze (Phx)

I'll reply to my original post since we went there last night. Last night was their "official" grand opening night. Overall I am very excited about this new addition! We shared the LB lavosh with corn, bacon, and cheese - very tasty and the lavosh was nice and crispy. Also shared the LB Paradise salad (I think that was the name) with mixed greens, mango and jicama and the chicken sandwich. Everything was really fresh and delicious. Service was great and attentive and everything seemed to be really well run for their first official night opening. Will definitely be back!

Went to Scratch in Scottsdale today...

Tried Scratch this weekend (actually twice - for dinner and breakfast). This is a great little find! As mentioned, it is a little hard to find tucked away in the strip mall where Fry's is. The sandwiches are tasty and I had the quiche for breakfast and it was fabulous - moist and great flavors. The standouts for me where the desserts though. We got a few things to go and they were all great - the hazelnut/chocolate dome, almond toffee tart and chocolate tart were all decadent. Also tried the homemade ice cream which was very tasty - unique flavors like violet and strawberry pistachio. Their green tea is also great and picked up a box to go (a little pricey though). Will definitely be back!

I read that Local Breeze had a soft opening this weekend. This took over the space that housed Palatte and is headed by a former chef from Pischke's Paradise. Anyone try it yet or have any scoop - menu, hours, etc?

hanny's - downtown phoenix

We went to Hanny's for the first time last week and I would have to say that they still have quite a few kinks to work out. Granted we were there on the night of the Elton John/Billy Joel concert so maybe not a typical night. We got there pretty early though and they weren't that busy. We were seated promptly and someone (the manager?) said that our waiter was detained so he took our drink order. They came out quickly but that is when it went downhill. We didn't know who our waiter was and no one was coming to take our food order or even acknowledge us. Finally we flagged down our host and he said he would take our order. We ordered the Bar Plate, Beet Salad and Blanco pizza. We waited for quite awhile still not knowing who our actual waiter was. Finally someone (our waiter perhaps) delivered the pizza and salad. By this time the place had filled up. The bar plate never arrived and when we asked about it the waiter mumbled something about the bar not making enough and they would comp it off our bill. How do you comp for something you never received?! He didn't ask if we wanted anything else or more drinks but by this time we needed to get to the show. Except our waiter (still not sure on if he was) was no where to be found. We had to wave down 2 people before we got our bill. It really was a service disaster and people around us were having the same issue. I really liked the atmosphere and I thought the food was quite good. All it would have taken was better communication - a "I'll be with you in a few minutes" or "I'm sorry we are out of that but can I get you something else" or "hi, I'm your waiter" would have worked wonders. I'll give it another shot since I really want to like this place and wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt that it was a concert night . it is so convenient to events downtown but it definitely didn't make a good first impression. Maybe we will sit at the bar next time!
