Pizza Vito in Timberlyne Center in Chapel Hill

Haven't been over to Timberlyne since J&J closed but was there for a movie yesterday and noticed a place called Pizza Vito which is apparently a franchise started by an Italian Expat that came to Chapel Hill sometime ago. Anyone know or remember any former places? Is this place new? Seems like it has a good lunch deal.

Pizzeria coming to Carr Mill Mall in Carrboro

I have to disagree. I have many a vegan and vegetarian friend who exclaim that vegan/veggie cheese is probably the grossest thing known to human kind. Actually there was an article on alternative cheese in which most of the interviewed people said no to vegan and veg. cheese. Just having a little fun and not meaning to dis those who require a cheese like product but don't want it dairy due to whatever restrictions.

"The Herald Sun is reporting that another pizzeria is making its way into the historic building, this time in the former Rita's Italian Ice space. And it will be a familiar face to pizza lovers in Chapel Hill & Carrboro. Craig Samuels, who just sold his Franklin Street Pizza & Pasta to Tomato Jake's, will open Carrboro Pizza Oven. Look for them to open sometime this fall. "

Funny that people were mentioning a trattoria.. .Guess what is going into the former Rita's space across from Elmo's...

maybe but not in the instructions from what I can see.

Farm to Fork 2012 [Triangle, NC]

Beet Cakes were by Crumb from the photos I've seen. I didn't like their offering two years ago and then there was that hellacious story about the phone message/email they left for a customer which left a bad taste in my mouth more than their food.

Bistro food is not French unless it is a French Bistro (though my memory of bistro vs. brasserie is forgotten). There are American Bistros. Though I understand what you mean about the connotation. As I mentioned to LulusMom the menu will probably undergo some changes once they get feedback.

I am unsure of what a Rotisserie bistro is as that is the first I've heard of that term. I must be the only one who doesn't think Panzanella is all that (beside the point). It is a staple.

Am going to try my hand again at a Meyer Lemon recipe courtesy of Food52 contributor. Last time I couldn't get the macaron off the parchment.

Coming to NYC and had a few questions about reservation systems and brunch/lunch

Unfortunately Minetta only does lunch on certain days which I won't be around to do.

Venable Bistro Carrboro

Thanks for the feedback. Now hopefully the whole mall won't smell like a steak when I go in or I'll never leave without eating there. Question is will parking become an issue. Also, what do you mean by unsettling atmosphere? I think I know what you mean but hte connotation seems like it made you nervous or was scary.

Catering Suggestions for Birthday in Winston-Salem NC

Anyone have recent experiences with Balthazar, Red Cat, Morgan Library, Parm, Hagi (I think it is a Sake Bar), Heidelburg, Eisenbergs or Mile End.. Looking primarily at a lunch. Though if they don't serve lunch a dinner option is possible.

Thanks! I'll pass that along.

Catering Suggestions for Birthday in Winston-Salem NC

I have a friend who is throwing her husband a birthday party in Winston-Salem with an approximate attendance of 40 people not including children. She is looking for catering options and what prices would be. Does anyone have any experience with this? She is looking to stay under $500 which I think is easily doable. Does anyone know how much it is on avg to rent out a BBQ purveyor and do a pig with some sides?

I think she is okay with taking suggestions for places that would have to come from.. say Greensboro or surrounding areas.

She mentioned Little Richard's BBQ in Clemmons.

Saffron in Chapel Hill, NC

Out of curiosity.. You did get it taken off the bill before you paid right?

Crepe or dosa?

Brunch in Durham, NC

I'd have suggested Dame's Chicken and Waffles but can't do 12 without a heads up. See about Parker and Otis. Everything is fairly close in downtown Durham. Another good option (esp if it is nice out) is to go early to the Durham Farmers Market and hit up the food trucks and baked goods or grab some items from Daisy Cakes as they may be able to seat you all outside if that isn't a problem. Just a thought.

Venable Bistro Carrboro

Sounds a little bit like the space that Kitchen has in Chapel Hill but maybe with some more wiggle room.

Made Italian Rainbow Cookies for a Saturday birthday and then on Sunday made Vanilla Ice cream, Home made pizzas and Nigella's Flourless Nutella Hazelnut cake.

Nutella Cake (Nigella)

I went with double devon cream. Search for it on amazon. It worked just fine. I also wasn't totally sure if I was to blanch the hazelnuts before grinding but it didn't seem to matter. The cake was huge for a flourless cake and very moist and rich. Glad I had some ice cream to balance it out.

Nutella Cake (Nigella)

I just saw this and thought about making it as well. I'm in the US and I've seen Double Devon Cream (does not mention clotted). Is this the same as Double Cream?

Looking for a good chocolate and or Bailey's Irish Cream flavored cake for my wife's birthday. I thought I saw someone post it on here but may have been mistaken. Any suggestions with links?

Coming to NYC and had a few questions about reservation systems and brunch/lunch

Looking at Wd-50 new menu. What is the advantage of doing from the vault tasting menu vs. a la carte at the bar if I order 5 dishes? I'm getting what I want and coming out $5 ahead right?

Chapel Hill: new Vietnamese/Thai

How big and how spicy?

Chapel Hill: new Vietnamese/Thai

Whats the story on the Viet/Thai place? Is it open or is that the same as the place next to Bubble Tea?

Chapel Hill: new Vietnamese/Thai

It was listed a few days ago on Twitter. I'll track it down.

Here is what I found...

Over in Chapel Hill on East Franklin Street, Mei Asian restaurant is heading our way, right next to what was formerly the Chill Bubble Tea location. They are a little way away from opening and no other information (not even a Facebook page or website) is available at this time. W

Yeah I tend to ask a lot and then I go and then when I come back I'm worn out and mean to recap ASAP and it just kinda slides away as reality grabs on.

Along those lines who does best traditional Paella? My wife really e njoyed hers in Spain and if we are having one or two other join us for a lunch it may be a cost effective dining solution.

Thank you both. My wife also likes the restaurant Butter but outside of chefs who have eaten there the majority of reviews seems middling at best.
