Gibby's or Moishes for Steak in Montreal I will add my voice to the several others who say that it is not even close: Moishe's. Was there for my birthday a few weeks ago and I always leave there satisified with my meal. A decade ago (maybe more, even), Gibby's would have been in the mix but it has slowly gone downhill in my opinion |

Has anyone tried Inferno, in Little Italy? Went recently with a group, some people were an hour late so that may have coloured my impression somewhat but it was OK. Had the rack of lamb which was very expensive for the amount of food on the plate. I saw a rack of lamb dish at Tavern on the Square that had at least double the meat for the same price point. Had the tartare starter, was very good. People seemed to be happy with their plates The food was good, but the prices is why I say it was just OK. Service was good, room was busy but it was a pleasant vibe. Might go back in a while as a couple to check it out again. |

Montreal Restaurants more than 25 years old Don`t have the dates but pretty sure Bocca d'Oro and Pizella on St-Mathieu have been open for 25 years |

Bombay Mahal vs Punjab Palace? Could you at least expand on why you think this? It is not haute cuisine by any means, but for the price it is hard to beat the variety of flavours you can get. Mind you, we only do take out from these places and eat at home (the leftovers taste even better the next day) but everytime we order we are very satisfied with what we get. |

You can drink whatever you want when you are in a luxury box. |

Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport PET airport is a third rate airport with commensurate food facilities. |

Costco Hot Dog Combo switching to Pepsi May have to do with Quebec being the only region in North America where Pepsi outsells Coke. Distinct society and everything ;) |

I was going to post it as well, and it certainly is the most expensive Metro in Montreal ;) Nice produce though I will give them that. Saw the beef and laughed at the prices but to each their own! |

I thought QC law stated that the special still applies if you only get a single eg. if you get 2 steaks for 10$, if you buy 1 they charge you 5$. or am I not understanding the issue. |

San Francisco hound in Montreal (long trip report) You will find that there more than a few rebel Main Steak house patrons that have been saying for a long time that it serves a better smoked meat sandwich than its more famous in front. Now that it is owned by Nickel`s lady, I can't see that changing. |

There is a huge beef recall in Canada, Costco called me right when the advisory came out and left a message informing me about the recall. One more great thing about them! |

LeMeac - go - get the Foie, get the Duck, and get the French Toast. Thank me later. Thanks for the great writeup. Still one of my favourites in Montreal, remarkably consistent and the women at the front of the house treat my Mom right every time ;) The bread pudding is to die for as you say. |

Looking forwards to this ex-Griffintown Café peeps! |

Accoriding to the twitter account that ran Burger Week (@Mechant_Mangeur) not only did they close but they took all the Burger Week money with them as well. Not cool of this is the case... |

Where can I find a cheap, new fridge in montreal? Sears has a liquidation centre at the (awful) Square Decarie mall near Jean-Talon |

The only thing I will give you about Baton Rouge is that it will be quick. Other than that, they serve the same old microwaved/prefab Sysco crap that all the chains served. Some people don't mind but either suggestion here is miles ahead of Baton Rouge. I second Beijing, tell them your time limit and they will get you out in time. Park near there on René Levesque and it is a 10 minute walk from Chinatown to PDA |

Burgundy Lion is a good pub but the food is forgettable at best Need more info as to tastes, budget, etc for more recommendations |

5 new food trucks for this summer This makes me cautiously optimistic, might be a trial run to see how things go. |

If I say RUE Jean-Talon OUEST (west) between DECARIE and St-Laurent in Montreal Love Nostos, go there when I hit the Costco. Close, I go with my Mom ;) |

If I say RUE Jean-Talon OUEST (west) between DECARIE and St-Laurent in Montreal I live nearby and go fairly regularly (not my choice), decent does not cut it at the price they charge. Panama for the price point was good, have not been in a while. Don't have a vendetta against La Sirene, just the price they charge and attitude they have. |
|
|
If I say RUE Jean-Talon OUEST (west) between DECARIE and St-Laurent in Montreal Would it be Panama? Agree that it is very good. Avoid La Sirene at all costs in my opinion, overpriced plates made with Uncle Ben's rice and frozen veggies...not worth it at all (even the fish store is bland and expensive...) |

I second the Manzo recommendation. My girlfriend and I were in NYC this weekend, visited Eataly around 830PM, saw the menu and had a table at 9PM. Everything we had was fresh and delicious (carpaccio, steak tartare, gnocchi and ravioli), excellent service as well. Nice surprise. |

Reasonably priced chef's table No it is where there is a special table (usually in the kitchen or very close) where the chef prepares a tasting menu for you and you watch him do his stuff. |

Costco food finds - 4th quarter 2011 [old] Marche Central location in Montreal had these had local ones as well. |

Quest for an interesting Italian Restaurant This restaurant called Nora Gray is newish but it has been opened by staff from Liverpool House and got an excellent review today in the Mirror. Just putting it out there, seems like it might fit your requirements, only complaint seems to be about the noise level http://www.montrealmirror.com/wp/2011/11/17/prima-donna/ |

Great food in or near Westmount? I think there is a certain segment of clientele (not saying the poster who recommended Vago is in this category!) that thinks if it is expensive and on an 'trendy' street, its good. How can you explain all those awful restaurants on St-Laurent between Pine and Sherbrooke any other way... |

Restos for solo weekend dinner: near downtown MTL Would skip the food at Burgundy Lion, as a bar it is fine but the food is nothing special, have been disappointed every time I ate there. On the other hand, never had a bad meal at Jane so I can heartily endorse that recommendation. Holder is solid as well. |
