Best Cooking Schools - Sydney and the Hunter Valley

Sydney Seafood School is extremely popular for cooking classes and do a range of courses such as Thai Seafood. Seafood Tapas, and Seafood BBQ. Have also had a number of the city's chefs taking classes. http://www.sydneyfishmarket.com.au/SeafoodSchool/AboutSSS/tabid/82/Default.aspx

Sydney, good cheap eats list

The dining out area of Darlinghurst is definately one of my favourites. I have outlined my faves in the neighbourhood here: http://www.nextstop.com/guide/qcE22n2UnME/best-eating-in-darlinghurst/

with special mentions for A Tavola and Omerta.

I think that Chinese eating is also geat in Sydney with a range of regions and options - see: http://www.nextstop.com/guide/CuarVauFop0/chinese-chow-down-in-sydney-town/

Flying Squirrel in Bondi I think is just a relaxed and fun place to get a feed and the cocktails are great. Other great places in Bondi are: http://www.nextstop.com/guide/1JTHQ1lOQk0/best-eating-in-bondi/ (with Flying Squirrel being one of the faves, and North Bondi Italian terrific for a Sunday afternoon lunch).

I was actually a little disappointed in Mexican at the Flying Fajita Sisters, but it does seem very popular. Mexican is a tough one in Sydney. I hear there's a place in Newtown which is the Mexican place of the moment.

My only other great value suggestion is Phamish (also in Darlinghurst). It's busy, fresh and delish (and popular).

Oh! Jimmy Lix is also a great alternative to Longgrain - equally as lovely but cheaper.

Australia

When in Sydney, heading to Bondi actually provides some awesome dining options that are top notch quality whilst getting a great glimpse into Sydney life. These are my favourites:

The London is pretty legendary

local's favorites for sydney?

In my neighbourhood in Darlinghurst there is a great range of some of the best restaurants in Sydney. Have outlined these in the link below, with Omerta, a new restaurant, my current fave:

If you're heading to Bondi, a great stop for international visitors, there's a great range of eating options, with Seans Panorama being something pretty special:

Advice for Sydney

I think that Balmain is the best region for checking out bars. My favourites are here:

In terms of cuisine is oz which is exceptional, the Thai food here is as good if not better than Thailand.

I also think we have a terrific range of chinese restaurants (beyond your standard chow mein). These are my faves in Sydney:

Sushi in Sydney

Sushi-e and Sushi Choo are incredible. These are my personal faves for Sushi in Sydney Town: http://www.nextstop.com/guide/qi49lJ8R5qg/sushi-stop-in-sydney-town/

Melbourne itinerary, looking for feedback

Know the thread is about Melbourne (where you will do some of the most phenomenal eating in Australia) - but if you are looking for some Sydney eating haunts, I've summarised my local favourites here:

http://www.nextstop.com/profile/Collette/

From high end restaurants to dumpling joints this really summarises where Sydney locals eat. Imagine the Melbourne guides should also be pretty good.

I'd also recommend The Malaya down at the King Street Wharf if you are looking for good asian. Right near The Loft which is a terrific pit stop for an after dinner cocktail.

Sydney - cheap dumpling places?

I just prepared a list of my favourite chinese places in Sydney including a couple of great places to get dumplings. http://www.nextstop.com/guide/CuarVauFop0/chinese-chow-down-in-sydney-town/
