Where to buy Demi glace?

Perfect, thank you!

Where to buy Demi glace?

Looking to buy Demi glacé in Edina or nearby. Yes, I know it's better homemade, but I don't have the time this trip.

Do I spend money on culinary school or on starting a restaurant ( food business)?

I completed an 18 month associates program at a culinary school and found it to be a giant waste of money. If you already have a lot of food knowledge I might suggest instead working back of house in a restaurant for a few months and maybe taking some supplemental classes at a culinary school. Many accredited schools offer recreational classes as well.

Suggestions for Companies that Ship Blue Crabs

Great; thank you!

Suggestions for Companies that Ship Blue Crabs

I've been craving some Maryland Blue Crabs, and want to get a bushel shipped to myself in Phoenix. I have been trying to find a company online that does this, but most of them have terrible or no reviews upon further investigation. Has anyone had any luck with this?

Cookbook of the Month April 2013 BOUCHON BAKERY: All recipes

Thanks! No, this was my first time. I was over-ambitious and made 4 colors/flavors. I may make again, but next time will just choose 1. I definitely under-calculated how long they would take to do, which resulted in a panicky/long night before Easter.

Cookbook of the Month April 2013 BOUCHON BAKERY: All recipes

I made the macarons for Easter. While the ones that worked were delicious, they were fussy. The first batch in the oven were undercooked, as I feared baking them too long and another batch cracked, because I didn't let them sit out long enough before baking (my fault.)

Old Town Scottsdale Ale Trail

El Hefe is a really fun day-drinking bar - maybe a picture of their big beer-garitas? Another bar that is bachelor party-esque might be Shotgun Betty's. It's a rock bar where the girls wear little daisy dukes and dance up on the bar. Maybe a pic of one with the girls, or with the statue (Jack Daniels guy?) in the back, or of the motorcycle on the bar.

French Macaron Flavor Suggestions

I'm planning on making an assortment of macarons for Easter - pistachio, cherry, chocolate/orange, & earl gray, and looking for one more flavor, that is maybe a bit different than the old standby and nice for Spring. Any suggestions? Considering blood orange or meyer lemon if I can find them, but hoping for something a bit more interesting.

I will take or leave traditional potato gnocchi, but I've had some smoked yam gnocchi that was truly outstanding!

Must Eats - Doheny Beach - LA

I know, we are in Doheny for a few days, and planning on spending one day in LA area. I'm definately open to places in Doheny as well, but from what I saw to do/see/eat, I wasn't overly excited, and figured a day or 2 away would be nice. Thank you for the suggestions; I will have to check out San Gabriel Valley!

Must Eats - Doheny Beach - LA

I'm sorry, I also just realized how broad this post was. I thought I might add that I will be with my boyfriend, and we would prefer to eat at places that would be relatively cheap for breakfast and lunch (my friend suggested Joans on Third, which looked good,) so we would have a bit larger budget for dinner, but still nowhere too expensive (maybe $150 for the 2 of us). I'm also interested in getting some good Asian food, as this is nowhere to be found in Phoenix.

Thank you!

Must Eats - Doheny Beach - LA

Hi CHers! My boss gave me her hotel to use in Doheny Beach, because she can't go anymore. I was thinking of spending one day in Los Angeles and one day in San Diego. Sadly, even though I'm just a few hours away in Arizona, I have never spent much time in either of these places! You've never steered me wrong, so I'm interested in everyone's suggestions, for their favorite restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops etc. in any of these areas.

HELP! How do you make flourless torte without a SPRINGFORM PAN?!

Agreed, a spritz of cooking spray, and some parchment cut to the size of the pan, work just as well in my experience.

Restaurant Recs for "Close Minded" Parents

No! Although I'm from MN, I only make it home a week or 2 a year, so I'm completely out of the loop when it comes to restaurants. I will have to let them know about all these places; thank you!

Sounds great, thanks!

Restaurant Recs for "Close Minded" Parents

I was just looking at their website - Just the kind of place I had in mind for them to substitute their weekly Applebee's routine to!

BBQ off of 1-10?

Thank you for the suggestions! We drove straight through from Phoenix to Pensacola, and unfortunately hit Texas (the places that we wanted to eat at) at a strange time, when everything was closed, and had to rely on packed sandwiches. We stopped at H&H Carwash that morning from other suggestions, and I was pretty disappointed, but that's for another thread! On the way back we were so tired and cranky we only made one stop again - City Market in Luling, and it was so good that we're contemplating another roadtrip just to go back! We had the sausage, brisket, and ribs, and all of them were awesome. Smokey, tender, and just right. The sausages were also very good - loose meat, smoked links, and we took several to tide us over for the ride back (but not enough!) Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I look forward to heading back that way and trying some more of the suggestions!

Restaurant Recs for "Close Minded" Parents

Hi CHers!

I will be in town (Edina) for a little over a week. I am looking to find some restaurants that I can show my parents. They are pretty "meat and potatoes," and also enjoy Italian a lot, but starting to expand more and more. They have gotten into the routine of eating at either Perkins or Apple Bees every Friday night for years, and I'm trying to steer them towards restaurants that serve "real food," (not pre-packaged stuff full of chemicals.) Some restaurants they like are Broder's Pasta Bar, Mozza Mia, and Wild Fire Grill. A big factor, is that it would be convenient and easy to get to from where we live (Edina - off Highway 100 and Vernon). It would also be a great added plus if entrees were on the cheaper side - b/w $10and $15) Any help would be much appreciated!
