Whisknladle coming to Little Italy?

Stopped into Whisknladle today for lunch and asked some of the staff. Its going to be one of the Prep Kitchen concepts at the corner of India and Date across from Princess Pub. It will be on the 2nd floor and is slated for a January opening. Server at Whisknladle said although it will be a Prep Kitchen concept it will be full service and a little bigger than Whisknladle with late night hours.

Coop's BBQ (Lemon Grove)?

Been there several times. Love the pulled pork. He is really smoking everything on premise. So far had the pulled pork, rib tips, ribs and brisket. All were great however the Brisket was slightly dry on one occasion, however that could be do to saving it to eat later in the day.

Nice to try smoked q' at places other than my home.

Brian Malarkey's Searsucker update

Heard they plucked the two bartenders from Whisk n Ladle in La Jolla. Interesting to see what craft drinks will be paired with rattlesnake and rabbit sausage.

Taco Carts?

I used Sabor mexican grill out of Spring Valley for my super bowl party. They provided carne asada grilled to order, carnitas which came from they're shop and pastor which was prepared on the trompo (the rotating spit) in front of everyone. They also made handmade tortillas to order and provided beans, rice, several salsas, onions, cilantro, etc etc.

I had about 60 ppl and all gave positive reviews. They were very friendly and fun.

San Diego Closed restaurants from the Down Economy

They closed as of this evening. Confirmed to me from several employees. They let go of they're sommelier 2 weeks ago and business has continued to be dead so the plug was pulled. Employees complained about location being dead after dark and no easy parking in front of restaurant. Ate there a couple of times and food was wonderful. Really sad for SD food scene.
