Birthday dinner in Oak Cliff
Skip Hattie's. Bolsa is turning out great food these days due to the new lineup. Smoke is always great. Haven't tried Driftwood or Mesa, but both look promising. If your crowd is small and the weather is nice, might be able to snag an outdoor table at Lucia. If your crowd is larger, might consider Nova.
Dallas-Looking for a store with good beer selection near uptown Dallas
Spec's definitely has the biggest selection. The World Beer Co Bottle Shop on Greenville is closer and has a great feel. You can fill growlers there pretty cheap and try before you buy at the bar.
Estadio or Jaleo?
Check that... just saw Jaleo will be closed for renovations while I'm there. Bummer.
Estadio or Jaleo?
Will be in DC for the first time second weekend in March, trying to decide between the two. Any advice? Also, any other small-plate format places to not miss? Staying at the Rouge in the Dupont-ish area.
Dinner rec- possibly near Stoneleigh Hotel
You could try the new Del Frisco's Grille. I'd probably go for Salum, though.
Sunday Brunch/Lunch
Staying on South Congress but will drive. Thinking La Condesa, Lucy's, or Foreign and Domestic. A friend of mine said to go to Takoba. Any thoughts?
BLTs
The best BLT is at Smoke, although it's not on the menu. Huge thick slabs of house-made bacon and curiously good out of season tomatoes.
San Marazano Tomatoes
They're in pretty much every grocery, sometimes in the Italian section of the ethnic isle if not next to the regular canned tomatoes. I've found at least Cento brand SM at Kroger, Albertsons, etc. All for around $4 a can. Theres also a huge variety of DOP San Marzanos at Jimmy's, and they sell them in huge cans.
Tampa recommendatons please (Researched!!)
The majority of SideBern's menu is not steak. I'd definitely keep SB on there.

Tampa recommendatons please (Researched!!)
Agree with Columbia. Cuban food is under represented on your list, and that's a regional thing that only Tampa and South Florida seem to do well. I'd go to the Columbia for a comfortable sit down and a mom and pop dive in West Tampa to say you did. Refinery is spirited and funky but hit and miss. If you're a beer drinker at all, I wouldn't miss the opportunity to hit up the Cigar City tap room, although I'm not sure of their schedule around the Holidays. I'd get a Cuban sandwich from Wright's also, as that's a Tampa institution.
Xmas Eve Showdown- China Yuan or Yummy House?
Thanks for the input, everyone. YH2 is booked.
Tampa Airport - any good lunch spots close by?
Close to the airport and better for lunch than Cuban mentioned above IMO, La Ideal. Can't beat a cup of caldo, a Cuban sandwich, and a cup of coffee.

Xmas Eve Showdown- China Yuan or Yummy House?
Christmas Eve dinner for a party of three, wondering whether to hit China Yuan, Yummy House 1, or Yummy House 2. I know this has been discussed before, but I was wondering if the "occasion" nature of the 24th would make a difference one way or the other. I know that YH2 is supposed to have the better atmosphere, but we'd put food over decor/waiter disposition.
Soft Shell Crab sandwich - South Tampa
Stopped by this new seafood place called Chubasco next the interbay meat market close to interbay and macdill. Looks a little sketchy from outside but there are two super nice guys running it inside. I had a softshell sandwich with a huge tomato, lettuce, and tartar. It was delicious and.... It was $5. I'll be back again and again.
Help! Where can I find Tasso, Boudin and other Cajun products in Dallas?
Never eat tuna?
Just a few hours in Dallas
Yea, clod is consistently dry. The ribs are slightly chewy and salty, but I dig that. Safe bet is go on a Wednesday lunch and get a half pound fatty brisket from the end, half pound of beef ribs, and a shit ton of pickles and white bread. Doens't get better than that in the metroplex.
Royal Thai
Had the Chiang Mai and Massaman curry, native spicy. Good stuff. Have you been to Bambu?

New fish market in Tampa?
Picked up some frozen Gulf shrimp from IC Sharks, worked out quite well.
New fish market in Tampa?
Any updates on head on shrimp in the area? Preferably around S Tampa
Texas Olive Oil
Just something to drizzle/finish. Destined for some Lemley maters while they're still around.
Texas Olive Oil
Which are the better of the Texas olive oils and where are they available in DFW? Jimmy's? I seem to remember Spicer carrying some at FM1410.
Anything new in South Tampa?
Mostly looking for new(past year or so) lunch spots. Saw there's now an enoteca by Yoko's, anyone been there?
Chef's tasting menu?

Chef's tasting menu?
After Le Bernadin and Congress, I'd pass on Local. I'd go for aforementioned Fuego or omakase at Tei An, making sure to note you want a traditional unrestrained omakase. Assuming you're coming for a game in early May, you'll make it just in time for John Tesar's opening of "The Table" which is a restaurant-within-a-restaurant much like fuego, although significantly less costly. You also can't go wrong doing the tasting menu at the Mansion.
Citizen or Coppa?
Thanks for the input, this affirms what I was thinking. Can someone give me an idea on the size of both places?
