Sunny Spain, Paris, and Singapore Spice recipes needed

My daughter got me the above collection of spices, and I'm having a hard time finding recipes for them. Any favorites you can share? She's vegetarian so I'd especially like recipes that I can make for her, but any would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Chicago restaurants with free parking?

Wow. Great site! Thanks. Actually, the theaters we go to aren't limited to the loop. There are all kinds of great "black box" smaller theaters that we love. The restaurants don't necessarily have to be near the theater. We like to try different neighborhoods. Ina's in the west loop has a parking lot, and I was just wondering if there were others. Thanks.

Chicago restaurants with free parking?

We hate to pay for parking twice when going to the theater and out to dinner. Do you have any favorite restaurants in the city (not picky where) that have a parking lot?
Thanks

Looking for Chicago Italian beef to ship to Denver

Does anyone know of a Chicago restaurant that would ship Italian beef to Denver? My son has relocated there and misses the great Italian beef he used to get in Chicago. I'd like to send him some as a surprise.
Thanks!

Special restaurant needed for mother's 80th birthday

I won't be taking her out on her actual birthday so I'm flexible on the day of the week. And yes I was looking for a really fancy fine dining experience for lunch but didn't realize that most of them only serve dinner. NoMI is beautiful as is North Pond. Thanks for the recommendations. Any others that are open for lunch?

How to cook with foods found in ethnic grocery stores

Just wanted to let you know that a search on Amazon for the demystified series has opened up a whole new door! Lots of great books that I've now ordered from my library. Thanks so much.

How to cook with foods found in ethnic grocery stores

Thanks for the offer. I guess what I'm most interested in learning about are vegetables and spices -- not a huge meat eater. I guess I like the usual Italian and Mexican. I probably need to venture out to more ethnic restaurants and be more adventurous. I'm sure I could find some suggestions on these boards.
Thankis,
Laurie

How to cook with foods found in ethnic grocery stores

With all the wonderful ethnic grocery stores in the Chicago area, I become completely overwhelmed with all the different kinds of foods available. Ten different peppers, tons of different kinds of beans, wonderful-looking spices. Banana flowers? Gigantic papaya. Having been raised on Jewel and Dominics, I feel like I'm missing out on some amazing food. Does anyone know of a good basic cookbook or maybe even a class that can help expand my horizons?
Thanks,
Laurie

Suggestions for cubing cream cheese?

I froze the cream cheese for 20 minutes AND used dental floss -- worked great! Thanks. I love the recipe but always hated making it because of the mess. Now maybe I'll make it more often.

Suggestions for cubing cream cheese?

I have a quiche recipe that I love, but it calls for 1/2 inch cubed cream cheese, which is a pain. It just becomes a mushy mess. Any suggestions for an easy way to do this?
Thanks,
Laurie

San Marzano brands?

Sorry for the repeat of this post. I think I posted it under the wrong section -- I'm still new at this.
I keep hearing how wonderful San Marzano tomatoes are so I purchased a can, thinking there is only one brand. It is by Carmelina. Then my local grocery store started carrying Dell' Alpe San Marzano tomatoes. Is one brand better than the other? What should I be looking for?
Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Storing pizza dough?

Thanks for all the advice. I think I'm going to do an experiment tonight -- freeze half and refrigerate half.

Storing pizza dough?

I would like to make some pizza dough in my bread machine and store it for later use, either refrigerating it or freezing it. It rises twice in my machine. What would be the best way to do this?
Thanks!
